ogredawg, thinking about Mike Bobo and him being a head coach. My guess is that he is a lot closer now than ever. If our offense comes out firing and having a lot of success this season, many will watch and some will offer. That is just the way it is.
Also, some coaches are not meant to be head coaches. At this point Grantham who has been in organized football for many years is yet to wear the crown. This is not knocking your point, actually think we have some agreement here. Know that we do.
Another thing that I have accepted with Mike Bobo which I refused to accept before. Mike has recruited many of these young athletes that are performing and performing well on Saturdays and Sundays. I know Bobo is a very good recruiter. Think maybe there were many circumstances looking back that prevented Mike Bobo from moving along a bit faster.
In my mind Mark Richt had not become the coach that he is today, and that played a huge part in overall coaching development. Some lead, some follow, but for sure there were parts missing from the top. Again, think that conversation between McGarity and Richt bore fruit.
Back to Mike Bobo and Mark Richt. They are joined at the hip, do seem to remember Grantham getting a substantial raise and Bobo left sitting on the fence. Not a peep from Mike Bobo about that, moves me closer to his camp. He did not belly ache, put his hard hat on and went to work. Not much for cry babies in my camp. Get your feelings hurt or ego bruised, do something about it.
As you say, even Mike Bobo cannot screw up with this talent. Takes me to this . . . . someone did a very good job of recruiting and coaching these young pups, results speak for themselves. Voices will get louder from the outside in the near future, and Mike Bobo will be the subject of many of those voices.
One thing that impressed me in Atlanta. It pitted Bobo and Smart against each other. We had our problems on defense, so did Alabama. Just a thought.
