If Bobo did not have a 3 year starter at QB with all that game experience in his pocket the same would be said about him. Granted he has made some changes in his philosphy and is using the TE and RB's a little more, (think that is more CMR than Bobo) but I saw waaaay toooo many 3rd and longs in this game......AM has bailed Bobo out yet again with his ability to hit the receiver and make a big play. Don't think really that Bobo has bailed out CTG more like the entire offensive side has.

I still am not convinced that this is the coaching staff that will take us to the top of the mountain. We will finish up probably what #5 or #6 with the gaytors and Stanford....yes Stanford ranked ahead of us.

Next year we have Clemsux, Carolina, LSwho and the gayotrs. All top 10 teams IMHO. Not going to be easy or pretty.

Next year will be even tougher. Our D has a loooong way to go.

We will just have to agree to disagree on that point. I thought we competed well against Florida. I thought we competed REALLY WELL with Alabama (Nick Saban agrees with me, so I'm in pretty authoritative company on that one). But I guess that's one of the things this forum does well - lets us air out our disagreements.

I hope you have a Happy New Year!

yeah kept it close but would of won if we did not give up 350+ yards on the ground. Saban was just making amends being in a tough game. What would any coach with any class say about the opposition after being in a tough game?

The gaytors got where they are by playing tough defense. Probably the best in the country. We came close to losing that one also but thanks to #29 we did not.

Hope you have a Happy New Year also.

thriller.....agree with your first post completely.....good post imo....I certainly feel pretty good.

Buc, agree with your assessment on the D/CTG as well.

Imo.....CTG needs to "dumb it down". Looks to me that he is over coaching the D and they are getting confused. Go back to a base D and rely on great fundamentals and athleticism.

Looks like "paralysis of analysis" to me.

I wanted to wait until after the bowl game to post, since I caused so many problems with my friends for my being so negitive.

I first want to say that I have changed my opinion some what about the team. I did see improvement in the players and the coaching staff over the last 4 games. I saw a group of great gifted players play their hearts out and it has been a long time since I have seen this type of play. I guess the 2007 team played well.

I have to agree with Buc and Ogredawg on CTG, I have said for the past 2 years, that I do not believe he is the man. Our D continues to give up points and lots of yardage. I think that this being his 3rd year, and with the talent he had, should be #1 or 2 in all D rankings.

It finally looks like CMR or BOBO is finally expanding our play book some, glad to see more TE and RB getting thrown the ball.

So glad we got the win, hope we pick up some more recruits and work hard in the off season, for as many have said next year will be a killer schedule.

wlayton, your post is excellent.

If you are coaching in the NFL, chances are you have many of the same players back for more than one, two or three years. These young pups come in and football is not the only change of lifestyle that they are going through. x's and o's can be just as difficult as regular classroom work, maybe more so if . . . . the person teaching the x's and o's thinks he can elevate you to the NFL level in that short period of time on campus.

So right wlayton, go basic and let the players play. Not about being recognized as one of the great defensive coaches, should be about the players. Anyone on this board that was not in Orlando, say it again, the young pups did not know what Grantham wanted. Not sure Grantham knew either.

Don't like beating up coaches. I am probably one of the biggest boosters of Grantham on this board from the beginning, can't say that now.
