I hear you, and I know we are all on the same team.
And I'm seriously not trying to be argumentative, just reassuring. But to make my point a little clearer: would you say our pass defense has been a little . . . "leaky" . . . at times this year? I would. We give up 222 yards passing per game, which sure sounds "leaky" to me.
What about that "vaunted" (one of my favorite words) South Carolina "D"? From what we are hearing, it's not possible for anyone to gain a yard through the air on them. Those DEs are on the QB SO FAST that even the "gunslingers" they've faced this year couldn't POSSIBLY get the ball out of their hands fast enough to complete a pass, right?
211 yards per game. That's right. 211. And that's against only one team with a winning record, Missouri. They got 3 sacks on Franklin, we got 2.
I admit, Clowney and Taylor are VERY good DEs. In fact, I'll go further and say I'd like to swap DEs with South Carolina, if I could. But I REFUSE to wring my hands worrying about the "slaughter" poor ol' Aaron Murray is being led into tomorrow night. Those mighty DEs haven't faced a QB with as many weapons around him yet. They haven't faced a QB as good, either.
We will win tomorrow night. They will get 2 or 3 sacks. Murray will light up their defense. Gurshall will get "his" yards. 24-14.
