Buc, you are right. I've taken a whole new view of over-signing. Maybe it's "cheating", or maybe it's just good old fashioned "thinking ahead". I used to think it was the former - I now think it's the latter. I don't think we "under-recruited". I think we "over-suspended" and "over-expelled", and that resulted in this shortfall. But I think we HAD to suspend and expel. Therefore, we DID under-recruit - by not OVER-recruiting.
So I have a whole new attitude about the entire process. These punk hoodlums kids have no sense of loyalty to a school - we all KNOW that. They have no sense of "HONOR" - we know that too. Handling them as if they do has proven to result in excessive risk to the overall team. To me, the TEAM has to come first - that's what we hire coaches for - putting the TEAM first.
There was a time when HONOR and LOYALTY meant something. There was a time when GOOD young men wanted to play for a school, not based on how much could be offered to them, but based on the regionalism, based on the color of the uniform and the glory of being a part of that schools cherished heritage and proud history.
Times have changed. Oh my, how they have changed. Today the punk hoodlums fine young men we recruit can only think of how much PERSONAL glory they can find. They want their hos, their guns and their weed. They want to buy and sell illegal contraband. If it's good, decent and wholesome, it's nerdy and un-cool. If it's nasty and illegal and dark and shady and wicked, it's cooooooool.
I say use these hoodlum punks up and discard them. Over-sign them, suspend them, expel them and bring in more. But as Cornelius Washington said, they don't care about us - they despise us and everything we stand for - I'm all in favor of returning that favor.
Sorry - got a little carried away - but not really.
EDIT - BTW, 31 days to kick off!
