More analysis - Missouri

Putting a little more thought into the upcoming game with Missouri. No doubt about the performance of the offensive line meaning so much in our first “real test” of 2012. Predicted a score in this game that does not actually show the intensity level that will be Georgia vs Missouri. My prediction was and is 45-18.

Much can happen early in a football game that makes a lot of us talk to (scream at) the television. We had a great first half of football against LSU in the SECCG. Second half not so good. This game against Missouri could look just like the UGA/LSU game. Sometimes it takes a quarter or two to get the nerves and game plan changes working against the oppositions strengths and game plans. Yes I do know that many of us have had some problems with our ability to adapt to what the other team is doing. This season, with the talent on both sides of the ball, much of what has happened before will not be accepted in 2012.

Really like the fact that Mark Richt took the path he chose to add serious running back help. First two games this season will produce some interesting looks into the future not only into the stable of running backs, it will give us what I think will be a clear view of whether or not there will be or can be sideline adjustments. Our coaching staff is going to be the same through the 2012 season, that gives every one of our coaches a chance to either erase or have to live with some current thoughts that many have quite frankly about UGA coaching. This coaching staff could not ask for a better schedule and the way the schedule is laid out. Thinking primarily about the South Carolina game moving down a few notches.

Back to running backs. IC has the tools. IC also knows that he has some folks that will be on campus that also have the “tools”. If I see anything like the IC that I saw last season, he in my opinion will have passed on a lucrative future in the NFL. Once a Marshall or any back that shows up, IC’s touches become fewer and fewer, IC knows that. Don’t get me wrong, I hope IC is so damn good that I can look back at the recruiting efforts made by almost every coach at UGA and pat them on the back. I think that IC is going to be a hard young man to move out of the number one running back position if he really “wants” to play SEC Football.

You're right Buc.....IC type talent doesn't come by often, question is, does he "want it". If he does, he could do some great things, if like last year......sad ending.

I think he will respond in a big way......can just "feel it". :woohoo: :woohoo:

wlayton, I have gone back recently and looked at youtube clips of IC. I have never seen a back hit the hole quicker than IC does. Also, as you and others know, IC can wiggle in a small amount of space. Reason that I say that is if our offensive line needs some "seasoning" IC can help them to buy that needed time. If we get the same from Marshall that we hope to get from IC, would not like to game plan against this group. Marshall is going to break some seriously long runs from scrimmage this season. I think, maybe know that Marshall is faster than IC, don't know about the line of scrimmage "wiggle". What a great problem to have. Offensive coaches, might be that the goose has laid another "golden egg". :)

Continuing to look at this game . . . wlayton made a good point about our O line and Missouri's D line. Do you realize that last year our depth chart basically looked like IC, RS, Ken Malcome, and Carlton Thomas? This year it looks like IC, Keith Marshall, Todd Gurley, PLUS everybody else from last year! We have everyone back, so we WILL BE AT LEAST as good as last year. Plus we now have some QUALITY FRESH LEGS in KM and TG.

Missouri's defense was not mediocre. They were pretty smelly. That's where we win this one, as long as we don't lose our minds and keep them in the game with turnovers and penalties. Looking back at the South Carolina game - what a wasted opportunity. UGA has the better team. NO TURNOVERS!!!!!

Buc, you said it . . . Aaron Murray, just ONE REQUEST, young man . . . NO TURNOVERS!!!!! Don't let your young ego prevent you from throwing a football to a cheerleader from time to time.

Going back reading some of the comments that were made last year. The one posted below was just before the South Carolina game. Another interesting stat was that AM was sacked 34 or so times last season. Looking at the schedule of 2011, some things just do not add up. Goes back to the play calling or lack of talent as mentioned below. Will know more this season.

Lifted from the Internet . . .
If Georgia depends on the run they are in big trouble. Considering outside of the 80 yard run by Boykin they had 34 yards rushing the whole game against Boise. I don’t think they should be relying on the run..Just saying?!

Bobo announces they are sticking with the no-huddle confusion they tried last game. It reminds me of the movie “Saving Private Ryan”. On D-Day one man was asked…. is it working? To which he replied “Hell No but it’s all we practiced”.

Georgia recruits toward the top every year. (so we’re told) Where does Boise shake out? Exactly. It comes down to putting a product on the field. They don’t have to win every game? The balls going to bounce the other way occasionally. However, one of the highest payed coaching staff’s in football combined with the best recruits shouldn’t equal confusion and half-ass execution. So which is it? The coaching or the players aren’t really top?
