Georgia ranked 8th in Nation by this person.
Projected 2012 record: 9-3
Last season: 10-4
The Bulldogs are loaded. The lines are going to be terrific, the skill players are fantastic, and Aaron Murray could be the best quarterback in the SEC if a few breaks go his way. There are superior playmakers on a strong defense led by LB Jarvis Jones and safety Baracci Rambo – even with his off-the-field issues – to be able to hang around with any team on the slate, but can the Dawgs get through the road games? The home schedule should be a relative breeze with the Georgia Tech game by far the most dangerous to worry about. Georgia is better than Missouri, but it’ll be the first SEC game in Columbia and the Faurot Field crowd will be jacked up. The Auburn trip will also be nasty meaning it wouldn’t be a shocker if Georgia lost three of their five games away from home.

South Carolina Ranked Number 7.
Projected 2012 record: 9-3
Last season: 11-2
Is there going to be a more dangerous set of pass rushers in America than Devin Taylor and Jadeveon Clowney? Throw in the great set of linebackers and a secondary that should be fine without CB Stephon Gilmore, and the Gamecocks defense should be devastating. The hope is for the offense to get star running back Marcus Lattimore at 100 percent to carry the running game, while Connor Shaw – if he can hang on to the quarterback job – should be steadier and should be able to wing the ball around the yard a bit more. While the team should be at least as good as it was last year, it’s going to be a fight to get through another interesting schedule. Not only is there a midseason stretch of three road games in four weeks, but the last two games are on the road at LSU and Florida after hosting Georgia.

From a personal point of view, the game in Columbia as has been said before, going to be a war. I am excited as all get out to watch both of these two SEC Defenses get after it. Offense might prove to be interesting also.

South Carolina with the power back, Georgia with speed to burn. Columbia will be rocking. . .

If the preseason rankings and some of our fan base's delusions during the offseason were all that mattered, I have a feeling we would have won 20 national championships by now. Unfortunately, there's that pesky step of actually having to play the season.
While I am hopefull for an outstanding and memorable season, based on our current and stagnated leadership at the helm and on the offensive side, I am realistically expecting a season not much different than last year. I will be glad to be wrong about that, though.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Agree with you Buc that UGA/USC game is going to be a D war. To our benefit, I don't think Lattimore will be anywhere close to 100% (I'd say more like 80%).......imo, it takes 1 1/2 years to fully get over that serious of an injury. Guess ML could be a quick healer but doubt it.

I for one am tired of hearing of our "weak" schedule. Especially from the Gamechickens. Every team in the SEC East has the powerhouse SEC West teams to rotate through their schedule. And before someone corrects me... I Know TN will always play Bama and UF will always play LSU. We are fortunate not to play Bama and LSU, but we always play AU and didn't they win the NC in 2010?

Anyway, the games in Columbia (both of them) will be crucial. The one in south Columbia is always a war. It is the biggest game of the year for the Gamechickens. They don't like us and we don't respect them as a threat. We better wake up. They have won the last two. I will say we gave them last year's game. Their D scored 14 pts and they returned a fake punt for a TD.

Can't wait to see these two heavyweight D's go at it. So think we will have the advantage in coaching also with Ellis Johnson leaving. Go Dawgs!

As far as scheduling, one of the first teams that comes to my mind is Auburn. Many of us know that BVG will get the most out of the young men that play on that side of the ball. Game being played on the enemies turf, cause for me to worry, I however do that with most of our opponents. This will not be the same team that got their butts kicked in Athens last season by the same number of points that flashed on the score board at games end.

Take this for what it is worth. Florida is not what some think as being in a rebuilding stage. They have football players, especially on defense. Offensive coordinator coming in from Boise State, tends to get my attention. Brothers, don't be fooled, lots of quality players in Gainesville.

Georgia already has gotten the attention of Missouri. They will play this game on their turf like it is a National Championship. Too bad that we had some young men lose their way, however it will really show all of us just how much depth we have on the defensive side.

Others will play us four quarters of football. This is not going to be a season that is as easy as some want to make believe.

This old fart thinks this season is going to be a defining moment for UGA. So much talent, both sides of the ball. Coach'em up. Many of these young pups stayed another year for what . . . they say to "prove a point". They are not making excuses, these guys have said let's get it on.

Also think that our kicking/punting game is going to be better than good. If we have a kicking/punting game, this group of young pups could cause some problems, maybe even in (both) Columbia's and further down the road.
