Some Thoughts . . . .

Winning 10 straight is a good season by any measure. More experience at QB, more depth at running back, defense continues to improve... Dawgsnation has every reason to have high expectations and demand results.

Our coaches have been taken care of through fan contributions to UGA football. Those responsible for running the football program should and maybe have at some point realized that putting fans in those seats is what it takes to move forward. While there is a huge difference in the pay scale from top to bottom on the coaching ladder, none of the coaches are in the soup line.

Think it was DWS that mentioned the night of the "Blackout". I am sure that Richt and company thought that was the way to go at that point. Saban took Richt's idea and reversed the intended results. Work hard, drop the gimmicks, many of us that support UGA football don't need or want Tom Foolery.

RxCowboy put it straight forward.
Dawgsnation has every reason to have high expectations and demand results.

Edit:
Below is a statement from averagedawg, totally on point.

Are we an elite program with great athletes or are we a good program with great athletes.

I don't know that I agree with any statement. We went from preseason no 1 in 08 to win 10 games, then 09 won 8, in 2010, had losing record, 5 straight years of decline, and then we win 10 games in 2011 but beat no ranked team. I'd say we are a average team with great talent. To me the players have never been a issue, it has been the coaches and the way these players of taught or lack thereof. CTG is the only coach that his players have shown improvement. So to me if the play calling does not change or we do not come up with some others type scheme, the the results will be the same as last year with our easy schedule. We lose to USC, maybe Misu, aub, fla. Our D can only carry us so far with out offensive performance.

I know I'm being redundant......but if our OL is on par with last year, our expectations are too high, imo.

Now if the OL is "close" to a BAMA or LSU then feel we could go to the NC game (maybe even with Bozo's play calling....BAMA's not too sophisticated in their offensive scheme...at all).

I know for me, it is easy to get excited with the number of outstanding players in Athens.......but I won't let myself get that way this year because of the reasons above.

I actually feel the OL will be WORSE at the beginning but much better the second half of the year.

duck, here is hoping that we see some change on the offensive side of the ball this season. If not the barking from fans will be very loud. There is enough talent in Athens that is ready to play SEC football, and much of that talent is very young. With our schedule, should give many of these young men ample playing time right away. Would mean a lot going into next season.

At some point our leader has to look at the defensive side of the ball and then turn his eyes to the offensive side and compare the last two years when talking "team" improvement. The offensive side is the part that Mark Richt is not only responsible for when it comes to game planning, one of the reasons that he was hired was to get away from three yards and a cloud of dust.

One of two things have happened to Mark Richt. Either the game has passed him by, or he hates to admit that he has made mistakes when hiring coaches. None of us know exactly why Coach Grantham was hired or the circumstances surrounding his hiring. We do know that he was not Mark Richt's first choice.

Could it be that selecting coaching talent is not one of Mark Richt's strong suits? If I was forced to vote, I would vote that hiring coaching talent is not his strong suit.

I happen to think that Mark Richt has a hard time with differing opinions . . . coaching opinions. There was not a chance in heck that BVG and Mark Richt could remain on the same coaching staff. Not sure BVG can co-exist with anyone, but he does have a good grip on defensive football. Does not seem to have a problem getting top rated coaching jobs. My guess is that BVG will at some point in the not too distant future becomes Auburn's Head Coach. I said that.

A case in point . . . when we see Coach Grantham on the sidelines, does he not have some of the same characteristics as BVG did when roaming the sidelines in Athens . . . Maybe that was a lesson learned by Mark Richt, the hard way, the WM way. Now we seem to have a real Defensive Coordinator, for how long, your guess is as good as mine.

Back to the game planning on the offensive side. I don't think for a minute that all of the calls are made by Mike Bobo. I also don't think that all of the bad calls come from Mike Bobo's play calling. If that were the case, then it appears that Mark Richt is protecting another coaching buddy.

Too much talent in Athens not to have a superior year. Schedule gets tougher after this season.

Go Dawgs, coach'em up. . . .

Incredible story today.
Georgia's top offensive line recruit, Andy Dodd, Pepperell High School, headed to play for Saban at Alabama.
When asked about Georgia, young man answers "he wasn't recruited by Georgia."
Does Mark Richt think he is a better judge of OL talent than Nick Saban?
No wonder our depth at OL sucks!
