Special Teams, No Excuses

Yes I want to play them. UGA has never ducked anyone and its now time to step up to the plate. If you get whipped you get whipped, but, you cant count on an easy schedule to keep you in the running for the MNC. If you dont think you can win it you shouldn't be playing in the SEC. If we're not ready for bama, lsu, and how did arkansas get into the discussion of the elite schools we need to beat. They have been our doormat in the past and need to stay that way.

Buc, right now and until i'm proven wrong, I do not think we can beat and of the 3 you mentioned. Right now, I don't feel very confident that we can even beat USC even with their losses. We can not seem to sopt ML, and their D will be very strong again. With our limited Offense, we will not be able to score as often as USC, due to the LSU factor will come into play during the 2nd half. Our D will be dogged tired due to the lack of offense. So I there for see USC pulling away from us in the 4th as ML runs for another 180 or so. Ala and LSU would kill us, it would be ugly, we just do not seem to have a game plan in place when we play the big boys. You'd think after the past few year, CMR and BoBo would come up with a different game plan when we play top ranked teams, and not just do the same ole same ole.

I hope we have a good signing class and not have very many change their mind at the last minute to pull us down. Once again, I hate to start the year on such a downer, but from the last 2 games, I am back into my show me stage.

Interesting comment growl. Remember the last time that UGA played Arkansas? In Sanford Stadium? From where I sit, they had an offense that made their victory possible. We can call it anything that we want, the final score is all that counts.

Not sure, but will ask, how did Arkansas get into the discussion. I think that I read you right, how did Arkansas get into the discussion. My answer to that is because they have an offensive coach that knows how to move the ball "forward".

I would ask you this question . . . . . if you had a choice of hiring our offensive coordinator or their offensive coordinator, which would you choose. . . . .

If you were a top flight receiver coming out of high school or junior college which school would you choose.

These young guys don't have the best grades, they have x amount of time, and they have to look at what is best for them. It will always come down to the money, the same money that President Adams is talking about disbursing among the athletes in the SEC.

Sometimes I feel that asking questions is as important as giving anwsers. What say you?

duck, the only game on our schedule that gives me any concern is the game in Columbia. This is the most important game in Spurrier's history of coaching college football. If we go to Columbia and SS beats us for the 3rd time, (in a row) much will change between UGA and USC football. That is a damn fact. I do understand your concerns about this particular game. If we beat that bunch of folks from South Carolina, the rest of the schedule looks a lot better. Time for Mark Richt to step up. He is the head coach, just like SS is the head coach for USC. SS brought his team into Athens and won. Don't want to hear how and why they won . . . . they won. Maybe Mark Richt could learn something.

In Athens we have become used to hearing why we lost and things will get better. Some believe that and those are the folks that can live with excuses.

duck comes up every year, every year since I have been a member on this board and says, "next year will be the same". Like it or not, duck is right. If duck is wrong and we win in Columbia, then we can jump all over duck, but is that guaranteed . . . .

I have always been with you duck, really want to see our defense jump on SS's offense.

:)

Buc, I think you know the answer to the OC question, duh! My point is its not been going arkansas way that often either. I think arkansas and UGA are a lot alike in most respects, yeah will swap OC"s with them. My dad always told me to put my hand in my pocket and see if I still had a pair when the going got tough, thats what UGA has gotta do, Man up, beat the patsies pants off and stay in the game with the big boys if you want to be one. If you want respect, earn it. GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with most of the thoughts regarding the need to win next season, with these exceptions:
1. Winning "at all costs" should be clarified here. The coaches and players must play within the rules. Otherwise, a championship would not mean didly squat..
2. I refuse to demand a National Championship in any given season, because there are just too many variables. If the team takes care of business, and wins every game, great. Beyond that, the thing is out of their control, until we get some sort of playoff system in place.
