I understand completely the history of UGA, and I know where CMR ranks in our line of
coaches.

I would note however that in recent history, that's a limited selection of folk.

The Dooley era was what it was. After that, Ray Goff was a joke. The Donnan era came
and went pretty quickly for several reasons before we finally settled on CMR.

I understand his achievements and what he has done with our program, but I will not
apologize for wanting this university to rise to elite level. We have the campus, the
football facilities, and the money to do so and we could do so if the people at
the top were as committed to the task as some of our competitors.

I don't think anyone here doesn't realize how far Richt raised our program, and I wont
even bother pointing out that those first few years of his immediate success were done
with Jim Donnan's players. It's a fact though that since 2007 the program back slid tremendously up until this season when a cupcake schedule enabled us to hit 10 wins
before we were promptly put back in our place.

If y'all want to be happy with a trip to the SECCG once every 6 years... have at it.

Bottom line is this... since 2005, many teams in the SEC have elevated their programs
and since 2007 we regressed. We regressed, and at many times have looked clueless
on the field. I'm not going to apologize for wanting more than that for UGA, and I'm
not going to look back 4-5+ years ago and let that speak for CMR's performance today.

I had a feeling someone would misunderstand that post. Like I said, if we are married to Bobo-Gotta-Go-Go, then let's get a divorce from both CMR AND CMB. I was only pointing out to growl that, while 1980 was awfully fun to be a part of, and way too short of a ride, he also missed out on some horrible defeats and downright embarrassments.

I'm with you, Wartdawg, on raising the bar . . . we CLEARLY succeeded in doing it by hiring Dooley, then again when we hired Donnan, and when we hired Richt (Donnan had absolutely nothing to do with 2005, 2006 or 2007). We can raise the bar - we've done it before, we can do it again. Just remember, every single one of us THOUGHT we were doing it when we hired Goff (one of the most beloved DAWGS of all time, by the way).

I know Donnan had nothing to do with 2005-2007.

If we were still performing at the level we were in 2005-2007, we wouldn't be having
any complaints, lol

In this league, you are going to go through ups and downs. Just something we have realize in this conference. Saban went through it at LSU, and he left. He had some very mediocre years there. Meyer did, Miles did, they all do. You are not going to stay on top every year. Just going to be part of it. That doesn't mean you clean house just because you had 2 sub par seasons. The other years, if you thought we were supposed to win the SEC, well reality checks might need to happen. Those uf teams, that had the 2nd best college football player I have seen or heard of, where more talented in about every aspect. Don't like it, but its fact.

The funny thing is, you guys act like if UGA fired Bobo, you would quit the bashing. Yeah right, just be someone new to complain about. Guessing you fella's just feel it is time to change the targets out.

AllDawgs5, there is much truth to what you are saying - changing out the targets. And you are painfully correct about mediocrity - it hits everyone from time to time. When it hit Meyer at UF, he quit - because at heart he is a quitter. Just watch what he does if/when it hits him at OSU.

Sometimes, though, changing the targets can pay off big time. We definitely upgraded by dumping Willie Martinez. I think the same could happen by moving on from Bobo. I would MUCH rather offload Bobo and keep Richt than wait too long to find out that that would have been a great move.

But everyone heed my words! Hindsight is by FAR the clearest vision we'll ever have! Even if we all came to complete agreement about where to go from here, the destination can sometimes be very unexpected . . . witness the transition from Coach Butts to Coach Griffith in '61 or from Dooley to Goff in '89. :pinch:

Wow AD5... you seem to know a lot about what others would and would not do. You don't know ANYTHING about how I would act if we fired Bobo, so stop acting
like you do. Funny.. the opinion I and many others have doesn't agree with yours, so OF COURSE it's just bashing from people who just delight in being haters.

Nice... shows a lot of respect for others. Once again, thanks.
