Other than the fact that Mr. Blank wanted to own a sports team, I don't think he's remotely like Jerry Jones in any way. JJ doesn't want a GM for the Cowboys, because he doesn't want to cloud up the decision making process. In other words, he wants to be the one
picking the personnel, and doesn't want anyone else
involved. He wants to be owner, CEO, CFO, and GM.
JJ only wants front men who will bow down to his every command as his coaches. If it wasn't frowned upon by the NFL, he would want to be HC as well.
Blank is nothing like that at all. He lets the Prez of football operations, the GM, and the coaching staff do the job he hired them to do, and he is nothing like Jones regarding media whoring and controversy. I suppose he
does have some sort of ego, but no more than any billionaire. As a matter of fact, he comes across to me as
the polar opposite of Jerry Jones other than both being
rich.

Gotta agree with you on this one wart...grew up a Falcon fan and think that Arthur Blank is the key to the franchise turning things around in the last 4 years. At the time, Dimitroff had a great reputation, but as far as I remember wasn't highly sought after as a GM...and NO ONE had Mike Smith on their radar for head coach. Playoff woe's aside which I think will be corrected, back to back to back to back winning seasons after never having one since 1967 is a good turnaround. Arthur's willingness to support financially and let the experts handle the football is what's responsible for the upward direction of the team...in my opinion.
Buc, not a shot at your opinion in any way. If you look at Blank's history with Home Depot, he was always a very visible owner within his stores and with his employees. Always wanted people to know he was in the trenches with them and I think it's a big part of the reason for the success of the organization. I think it's the same for the Falcons. He's definitely more visible on the sidelines in games and on the practice fields than most owners, but he does it while not overexerting his power and butting into the football side of things. I have to say, being a huge fan of the game, as is Blank, if I was a billionaire with an NFL franchise to my name...I'd want to be out there whooping it up with the players too!
