I read on another thread somewhere someone questioning CT scholarship. You must of not watched the Auburn game or watched the LSU game or the Tech game where he's throwing blocks on 200lb plus men and not backing down. Look at IC hell he's so scared to block he just acts like he forgot what to do and he's 200-210lbs. O ya CT is 165lbs too not 175lb.

Never questioned CT's effort. The point is in a prostyle offense there should never be a scholarship 163 or 173 lb running back on the roster. It takes big running backs to make it work. If you question that then you and I have completley different views of offense or better yet look at FL this year with 2 small running backs trying to run Weiss's pro system. In the spread my butt would clench up any time Rainey or Demps touched the ball, this past season they were rarely a threat. It is a much the system as the players. A small Rb has no place on this scholarship roster unless they did something else really really well on special teams.

Look at UGA avg TB that had a carry this year not including Smith,Boykin, Murray or
Mason.

7 running backs had carries avg 5'10' 201 pounds

LSU

6 running backs (excluding QBs) had rushes avg 5'11" 221 lbs.

I am not gonna bring up any stats other except 2. They beat us like they owned us in the 2nd half of the championship game and they are undefeated.

Type of System has to match type of players and vice versa.

UGA Systems call for big uglies in almost every position. Big and quick is even better.

I don't know...he's not the feature back but I'd say Jaquizz Rogers is starting to do some impressive things for the Falcons, and I'm pretty sure they run a pro-style offense.

I guess we'll have to agree to dis-agree

CT is actually on scholarship as a ATHL not a RB. He was recruited by every school in the south east and choose GA. I welcome him with open arms. Yes he's been in trouble but has man'd up everytime. I would like to see them use CT more of a scatback.

I will also take a 5"7 163lb back that's not scared to hit someone over a 6" 210lb back that jumps to the ground or miss's blocks because he forgot the play any day of the week.

but like I said we'll just agree to dis-agree.

No he doesnt have the size but look at the little Atlanta Falcon's RB.

I agree but in the little I have seen him play they use him differently than the big guys. Running Carlton Thomas up the middle 3 straight plays against a good defense is not going to produce many first downs or scare the defense into respecting the play action. From what games I have watched and reviewed CT was used just like a feature back would be. We don't seem to have any plays designed for a scat back.

Maybe I should rephrase - UGA's pro style offense with it's limited playbook and Bozo calling the plays has no place for a small runnning back. Either way it goes back to having the right players to do waht you want to do.

Some are wise and some are otherwise !

Richardson at Alabama isn't that tall. He is strong.
Perfect size back- 5'10", 210lbs.

Hear what you're saying, but a lot of those plays were dictated by the situation. I completely agree about not using him to run between the tackles, BUT, a lot of those times he was a) in because he was either the healthiest, most experienced, or most willing to block back we had. Also, you can't JUST use him as a scat back or teams will pick up on that fact and check at the line because they know that he only runs one of a few plays every time he's in the game...know what I mean?

bulldawg36869, we both know that if we are going to run the offense the way it has been for the last 3 years, it is taking what is ok against what could be much better. Totally agree with your assessment of CT having the “guts”, trying to not use the other term normally used. Not afraid to block, but size does make a difference.

Carlton Thomas has not had a chance in the Bobo scheme. Carry that a bit further. Samuel, perfect to play in the I-formation, size, speed, attitude, the entire package. Came to UGA and I say this, a young man with a lot of talent that the coaching staff at UGA totally missed the boat on. He is a perfect example of ineptitude when discussing UGA’s coaching staff.

Could get started and discuss other “major” miscues on the part of the offensive staff that some think is all that. Start with Moreno, and let me know how that played out, and the thinking behind the redshirt. I have other examples as I feel many of you do.

If UGA is going to run the I-formation, you have to have “body guards” for the quarterback. There is no way that some of these defensive ends and linebackers are going to be blocked by our offensive line each and every play. Does not work like that, never has. Never will.

The problem with our offense is curable, it just takes the leader to stand up and do the right thing. For me to say that “I” think that Bobo should not be the offensive coordinator, just mimicking the words of many, and in that group of many are some very knowledgeable folks that “understand” football.

Couple of “studs” coming in next season, the right personnel for the I-formation, guess we will see where that goes.

The one thing that I do understand is this . . . . Changed defensive coordinators and the results to this point have been outstanding. Friendship is a beautiful thing, but it can’t interfere with the head coaching job, and expected outcomes.

We also changed the S&C leader, that along with Coach Grantham seemed to pay dividends. We hear a lot of positive talk about how the defensive side is doing, don’t hear a lot about the offensive side, and especially the play calling. We have a stable of wide receivers that are ready to go, only problem with getting the ball to the receivers is that somewhere along the way, the coaching staff forgot about the offensive line. All teams have injuries.

bulldawg36869, in agreement with you. Trying to run a system that does not have the right personnel to “Finish the Drill”. That term came from the coaching staff. Maybe the “Drill” needs some help from the coaches or . . . Some more coaching changes.
