BulldogShannon, Mike Honcho, wlayton, everybody,
I too have been a Bobo detractor but I too must give credit where credit is due, he called a great game on Sat. against Auburn-Way to go Bobo! He definitely rolled out AM more often & was seriously committed to the run. Red zone play calling is where Bobo has really struggled so for me his best call of the game was the swing pass to Figgings in the flats for our 3rd TD. That play works almost 90% of the time it seems. We used to throw it to our FBs numerous times per game early in the CMR era, but not so much anymore.
Anyways, all compliments to Bobo aside, I still think a really bright & creative OC could push the Dawgs over the top. As me & my buddy were riding up to the game on Sat. morning, I commented that Bobo has been calling better games the past several week & he agreed. BUT, I then said, I don't care, his BEST play calling still isn't good enough. Perhaps I should restate that his BEST play calling might be good enough for the Dawgs to manage to win (you know, the players making plays), but his play calling alone is NOT going to win us any games.
IMO, a great play call at the right time can be the difference btw. a win & a loss in a close game btw. two evenly matched teams. I still just have no confidence that when crunch time comes, Bobo will make the right play call to help UGA achieve a victory. Be interesting to see how the offense & play calling look during the final 2, hopefully 3 weeks of the season. I sincerely hope that Bobo is starting to get better, if not, CMR needs to make him the QB Coach & bring in a new play caller. I'm rooting for Bobo to figure things out but like many of you have said in previous posts, I don't care who our coaches are, all I care about is the results!
