From Athens - Lucky "7"

Good Morning All,

I was whisker close last week speaking out how it was another quite week in Athens.

So much for that, with CK now joining WE as a former Bulldog tailback we now have more fuel for conversation to carry us to Sept 3rd

I have a feeling that the departure of these two came as no surprise to CJT. It seems to me he has a sixth sense about who is in and who is not cut from the cloth we need.

Going forward with players who remain we can take stock again having a team focused on we and not me first.

Spoke with an old dawg this week he brought up a point that I have missed.

CMR’s hot seat is shared by his entire staff. Point is CMB issued the same wake up call.

Question remains can he make the necessary changes that this offense will need going forward.

My ole dawg tells me that starting with the loss of TS then WE and now CK that CMR is taking even a more active role on what is going on inside CMB head and the direction he wants to take. If this is so it is a very good thing.

His parting comment was that not only is there a special bonding going on with our team this year but the coaching staff has benefitted from CJT’s new role. Old Dawg teaching new tricks works for me.

We did not do well this last season when faced with adversities, we did not have CJT in his current role and CTG was in his first year. Having Mac in his AD role for his second year has/will make a difference.

Even before all this manure hit the ventilation equipment I felt our early success was going to rest on the defense and special teams playing lights out. Now I am sure.

We all have had to face a learning curve at something in life. True we have a large kennel of young pups suiting up to play their first college football game. Others who have been here for a time are being called on to step up and produce. How this call is answered will tell want kind of season we can look forward to.

With CJT & CTG and a more focused CMR along with Mac’s watchful eye I do not think a lack of effort will be a problem this year.

It is less than a month away from the start of practice.

We now only have “7” Saturdays to go before Atlanta.

Georgia is in mid-season form. She has been enjoying harassing the squirrels and deer that dare visit her domain.

I am also hearing a bark of discontent about her Milkbone rewards after the Dawgs score. Seems with the pay raises that the coaches received she is also looking for an upgrade. I told her we could review her request during our late night walks to the south 40. I am thinking we win the first two games and she can look forward to a meal of my grilled chicken.

The 100 plus temp this week has me thinking about chilling with some brews and brats. See if I can get the wife to add some mac salad.

Georgia and I will hoist one for all come Saturday night !

Pause and give thanks, Have a great weekend and a safe week.

As always- “Go Dawgs”

Buc, Sounds like Georgia has contacted you to act in her behalf during the upcoming “Reward” bargaining meetings.

My gut tells me that a few other voices on this board will chime in to see that I ante up.

I best cave soon or she be asking for her own blog “Ask Georgia”.

Go Dawgs!

Yd1...thanks for the post.

You are right about having the right kids "cut from the best cloth".

The point is, every single year, on every single team, there are true and RS frosh having to step in and do thier just duty. I know there has been a ton of negative spoutings from this board and others. I, for one, am a little tired of hearing it. The fact is gentlemen, that this team has at least 12 games to take the field for this year. I will do my normal ritual of getting up extra early Saturday morning, hanging my lucky shirt and piece of the hedges in thier normal Saturday place, and EXPECT my DAWGS to go on the field and sweat til they bleed. JTII is gonna make sure that happens, and that is why he is my new favorite addition to the team. His son was for spit as a QB, but daddy knows how to get it done. Period.

Join me this weekend fellas, cracking a cold brew, and firing up the grill or smoker, while we patiently wait for the next 7 Saturdays to fly by. That is when the DAWGS start the redemption process.

As always,
GO DAWGS!! G.A.T.A.

DAWG1277, hope that you don't take my rantings as not backing the team. Been a true supporter of the Red and Black for a few years.

In my business life I found that when a problem was cited and verified it had to be handled. If the problem is ignored, the wound festers. I found that to be true at UGA. I can appreciate you being tired of hearing the rants of many, but you also have the choice to let it go (as you mention above) or post on the findings and give your view.

DAWG1277, did notice that you mention JTII as your new favorite coach. He is in that position because someone or a group of folks thought he was better suited to as you say . . . (EXPECT my DAWGS to go on the field and sweat til they bleed.) Took a lot of rantings for JTII to get someones attention to the fact that JTII has been on the campus for many years, and by the way played football.

Whether it has been noticed or not, the supposed revival of our program has JTII's name mentioned more than any other coach on our team. The real football players, the ones that want to work and know they need to work appreciate JTII more than we do. Sometimes the answers are under our noses. Did not need to interview for the S&C position, it needed to be pointed out that change was necessary.

Just giving you my view in part. Would gladly crack a brew (or two) with you.

Go Dawgs . . . . Coach Them Up!!

:)

Ehh Buc...That might have came off a little course. I would never doubt yours or anyone else "fanhood" on this board. I'm just not much on negativity, thats all. Ive always lived by the "think positive and positive things happen"

I always enjoy reading this board more than any other b/c of the maturity level here. Its very different than some of the other Dawg boards out there. PLEASE keep the posts (pos or neg) coming. Always welcome open discussions w/ all you fellas!
