Awesome Buc. You just keep finding all the "stuff"! Thanks, and keep it up! Hard to figure out how OSU can keep their guy in the face of this one. "Do the honorable thing."
This is such as good thread, I thought I would add to it instead of creating a new one. It may belong in a different thread, but it sort of fits the theme here. It's long - sorry about that!
Is it still the off-season? Are there still teams out there that wear orange? Bad news either way. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to give you my natural conclusions to some scenarios.
Scenario 1.
We beat Boise State and South Carolina – I jump back on the band wagon until the Tennessee game (I take wins up to that point for granted - a single loss until then – get the hook). We start over there.
Scenario 2.
We beat Boise State and LOSE to South Carolina – I will be bummed, but it depends on the nature of the loss. For example, if it’s a hard fought, close game and we get jobbed by the refs the way we did against LSU a couple years ago, then I wait until the UT game to call for blood. If it’s a “regular” loss – meaning it’s apparent that we were beaten by the better team, but one that looks like it may wind up in the national picture, I will simply sit quietly and unhappily and allow others to call for blood until the UT game. “Bad” loss – poorly played close game, or just blown out, I don’t care – get the hook.
Scenario 3.
We LOSE to Boise State and BEAT South Carolina – Again, it depends on the nature of the loss. Close game, well played, beat SS, we still might compete at a national level, I’m silent until the UT game. Unhappy, but silent. “Regular” loss – Boise State just looks like they are as good as billed, but at least we don’t look like last year – I will be unhappy for a week. Beat SS badly enough after that, or just look GOOD enough doing it, and I’m unhappy but silent until UT. Then I start over. “Bad” loss – get the hook.
Scenario 4.
Two losses to start the year. I don’t care how well played the games are. Let’s be very honest. CTG coaches the rest of the way in this scenario, and none of us will have to say one word. Mr. McGarrity will do all the talking. “We appreciate all that Coach Richt has done for us over the last 10 years, but it’s time for us to make a change . . .”
As most of you know, I have been a pretty die-hard fan of Coach Richt. And I have no doubt many of you will think I’m being a little too forgiving still, but check the conclusions to my above scenarios. Under ANY circumstance, it will take the ENTIRE SEASON to have me “driving the wagon” again. Sincerely, I don’t envy Coach Richt. This was a bad schedule to have to navigate in order to recover from the last two seasons. He is on a shorter leash than I think anyone realizes. Good luck, Coach. You definitely need it.
