Big and Bigger

Spring Football, here is hoping that the Dawgs get some practice weather that allows them to rise to the top. Thinking about the upcoming year, wondering which players will make a big difference in the way we play on defense.

Right now I am really caught up in Kwame Gaithers. Grantham told us last year that he really needs that big man in the middle. He also has said, well . . . . according to how you choose to play the 3/4. Did not take long for Grantham to show us what type of body he wants to run "his 3/4".

Here is hoping that Jenkins comes in and is everything he is being built up to be. I am a believer. Appears to me that Kwame had someone turn the light on, maybe some of his football playing family, or the new Godfather on the Defense . . . . Grantham. I have to believe that Grantham has had special conversations with the Godfather of S&C, Tereshinski. Can we even start to imagine the language that is used and the methods preferred when these two are in private.

Appears to me that Grantham is pleased with what he is seeing, he is however one of those Saban types that keeps everything close. Grantham says that Kwame is working his butt off, along with fat pounds from other parts of his body. Dude is huge, adding muscle and of course strength. Spurrier really wanted Kwame at South Carolina. Sorry.

Gaithers and Jenkins, Jenkins and Gaithers . . . I would hate to be the offensive center that takes a pounding from both of these guys for an entire game. Maybe both in the game at the same time on certain situations, who knows. These two along with two huge defensive ends sure puts a strain on the running game. Jenkins (6-foot-4, 340-pounds), Gaithers 6-6 350, supposedly Kwame has lost some of the "baby fat".

Just pounding the keys, you folks have enough knowledge to talk about others, or these two. I have several thoughts on others, give you guys a shot first.

Go Dawgs!! Coach'em up . . . . :)

We need some one to step up and fill Ogletree's spot at safety......hoping Hamilton will be the one to do that......D looks strong.........with the D line and linebackers being the backbone.....will be tough to run on em this year......Lattimore and Carolina will be the test

Lattimore was one of the reasons that I even mentioned a four man front. If we take Lattimore away from South Carolina, even take 10 carries away from Lattimore, I think we have a different team totally. Would love to see SS having to throw the ball the extra ten 10 times that Lattimore won't be involved running. Lattimore can catch, still his game begins with the handoff.

Had high hopes for Jakar last year. There was a lot of hype surrounding him and the "hit man" press. You mentioned Ogletree before ogredawg, with the amount of time he spent "improving" last year, makes it a bit more difficult to replace him back there. Two good safties and this bunch control their destiny.

Afternoon Gents, Havoc Inc.. if and it is an if at this time our front 7 becomes Havoc Inc and the QB spends more time looking for a hole to jump in to avoid JJ and Company as KD said he can play DB and I at 66 can play in the nickel package. Blowing the play up at the line takes all kind of pressure off the "D" backs to hold coverage for extended period of time.

Once again Buc you are spot on with KG, he is another example of JT's work along with CTG.

Again look for this group to produce on defense, would make Erk pround. Go Dawgs

Have any of you folks seen Lynch . . . Coach JT has him up to about 270, packed with muscle and one article I read quoting Orson Charles . . . . in effect you don't want to "bust" heads with this dude. 6'5" 270 and has been working out with Coach JT since the end the season. Below is the site, you may have read it . . .
