Nosing around some of the NFL Mock Drafts, picked this up from a site that understands what is going on. They are very good at what they do.
Justin Houston replaces Martez Wilson, who had held this spot for 5 weeks. Houston just killed it at the Combines. Showed up at 270, prompting Drafttek scouts to co-categorize him as a DE43. Previously he'd been pegged solely as a 34OLB. But Houston carried the 270 well. Working out with the LINEBACKERS, Houston placed #4 in the vertical jump, #2 in the broad jump, #2 in the bench and #7 in the 40 with a 4.68. Yes you may apply the term "freak".
Houston has played in both 4-3 and 3-4 sets at Georgia. My first inclination upon seeing this selection (by Drafttek's DRAFTSIM model) was "tweener", but upon investigation, Houston has the package to be employed creatively in several positions.
After reading this, thought about some of the things that Grantham has been saying this Spring. Grantham thinks that Jones is better all around than Houston. That is saying a lot, it is however coming from a former NFL coach now employed by UGA. If Jones turns out to be "all that" folks we really have something to look forward to this season. Supposedly when Jones was working out with the scout team last season he was impossible to handle.
