AllDawgs5, I have been thinking about Sterling Bailey the last few days. Wondering. I do know that there was a lot of "stuff" out there, media for the most part. Lots of schools wanted him for sure. This is what wlayton is saying, Drew and others knock off the BS and handle it like Bailey and his family did. He put the UGA cap on and since then, haven't heard a peep.
Absolutely with you again on the guys we had playing last year . . . might be a bit small for the middle, not so at DE. That year spent trying to play two, makes that outside look real good, even though it is not a four man front. Maybe CTG played these young men the way he had to, but now those guys will reap the benefits from the tough times they had in the middle.
RabunDog, this years team could be real deep on the d side of the ball. I keep looking at this class and the players already in Athens, our d backs should be hard to handle. Lakatos has to like what he sees coming in.
Here is hoping that some leaders come out of the pack and keep this group of athletes grounded. This could be a year after year progression if we find leadership among these student athletes. Could certainly be something to write home about . . . .
One more quote from Drew in Chip Towers column, might have seen this already, but . . .
Speaking of Drew, No. 2 in the AJC Fab 50, and his invitation to join UGA’s “Dream Team,” I informed him of the AJC’s No. 9 player, Xzavier Ward, committing to the Bulldogs on Monday. You may have read part of his reply on Twitter. Here it is in full:
“Hmmm. I’m proud for him. I’m glad he found out where he wanted to be. I’m sure he made the best decision for him and his family. Now I’m looking forward to going against him one Saturday.”
If he has chosen Miami, the above quote does not work out. However, he likes to fish, Miami area has a lot of fish. Have to get rid of the tackle he is used to, go to the big boys terminal gear.
This is what he wants us to do I guess. I will. Appears that Clowney is heading to South Carolina, Alabama or FSU. Maybe he is thinking about playing on the other end.
Last thing about this . . . I would love to have Drew hang his hat in Athens, play to his potential, and get a good education, help UGA move forward in a positive way. Dude has huge talent. The Lord blessed RD.
