amen. how many times can a team run a play action on 3rd and long in a game and wonder why the LBers don't bite?

The west coast is my choice. Can you see marlon brown on the 1 or 3 route with his size? if he is between the ball and the defender it is at least 7 yards or pass interference. Same with charles.

I would die to see 2nd a 4 a lot; with our 7 step drop, and obligatory holding penalty, we always see 2nd and 20.

CMR/Bobo seem to think there is something wrong with 2nd and 6. With them, its either 15 yards or bust.

BulldogShannon, the above is sooooooooo right. Bump and Bump Brother. The talent is on campus, has been on campus, might get more talent on campus in February or before. Think I know the answer, won't say this time.

However . . . . :)

We did know that there was a problem with our DB's not looking for the ball in pass coverage. Oklahoma scoops WM up as if he is perfect for them. Was WM's problem with UGA maybe not his problem alone?

We had been told that our S&C was on target, mat drills and all. Now we move in another direction.

There are some folks in Athens that are or should be ready to prove myself and others wrong in 2011. Noise will only get louder or some of us will be proven wrong.

I for one, would like to see more spread formations, not necessarily a true spread offense. Just put 3-4 receivers out there and spread the field out to open the running lanes and give AM more of an option to run if nothing else is available. I just don't like our pro-set formation because with only 2 receivers wide it doesn't remove enough defensive personnel away from the middle. We don't have the line (apparently) to clear out the middle. Then when you run the exact same plays up the middle every time, or drop back 7 steps with only 2 routes to choose from since the RB's just block and never flare out....well, you know the results.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Like the idea of I am hearing about the shorter, easier completed, less risk throws. Get the ball to play makers in the open field quick, and let them work.

Coming in late, but when I say spread, like Buc, I am referring to formation only. One area I differ is I think it all starts and ends with the running game. Look at just about all of your national championship teams. Dominant ground games. Scheme's and formations were different, but essentially all success was dictated on the running game. Believe a lot of us on this board feel this way.

I personally like how we use OC. I guess my complaint would not be quality, my complaint with is quantity. Staying at TE creates mismatches for LB's and S's. Could he get himself open against cb's, Yes. Would it be harder, Yes. No excuse for him not making the same impact as Pope did. Should actually make more of an impact in my opinion. Size of TE, Speed of a slot receiver. Bobo, anyone else in the country would die to have this kid. USE HIM.

As far as WM goes, I don't think it has anything to do with what he was or wasn't allowed to while he was at UGA. I personally don't think Richt was too concerned. It is becoming to common hearing Richt be blamed for everything. I am pretty sure he is going to start taking the wrap for basketball loses. It appears everything that bad happens at UGA is solely on Richt's shoulders.

Agree, the play action needs to be banned. It can be a great benefit, but Bobo doesn't know how to use it. You should never be running 6 or 7 PA's in one game. Hell, especially when you haven't even come close to establishing a running game.

No doubt about this coaching staff needing to prove themselves to a lot of people. Hate to throw in CTG and the rest of the new staff because I believe they are really good coaches, but if we continue to struggle, they will be guilty by association.

Believe UGA should hold many running game scrimmages this off season. No passing whatsoever. Nothing but running game. Let the D load the box. O should have the mindset that it doesnt matter how many men you bring into the box, we are still going to establish the line of scrimmage, and backs will learn to run a little tougher.

Have always felt that defense wins games, along with a running game. Must be able to run and that was truly a short coming last season. Defense knows that you can't run, whether it is the conditioning of the offensive line or lack of good hard nosed talent lined up behind them, they are coming full force.

So many new coordinators, both pro and college, not to leave out high school, are after the quarterback, especially schools without the run game.

Think I saw where the Jets sent folks 66% of the time against the Patriots. They know that TB is going to be chunking the ball.

A lot of our problems last year was the lack of chances that OC (and others) did not get because of Bobo's tendencies . . . . play action. Still don't understand the problem with Wooten not getting playing time. This young man is a stick of dynamite. Something is wrong.

These young athletes, not all but a great many of them once their college career is over, go back to where we recruited them and they don't leave a great impression about Athens. Some of these young men should be the life line for UGA players of the future.

Good post AllDawgs5, while we don't always agree, we get our two cents worth.

I disagree with OPs assumption that Tebow and Newton were rare talents. There are dozens of quality option style QBs in college football. Of course they get converted in the NFL, but who cares about the NFL? I certainly do not.

Pure drop back passers in the mold of Manning are far more rare.

If we cannot establish a running game, our defense suffers.
Seems like I heard that somewhere about 55 years ago.
