Have mentioned this a time or two on this board. Houston remaining in Athens. I have great respect for the things that Houston has not only accomplised at UGA, also like the fact that this young man had a couple of problems, but overcame them. I say thanks to this young man whether he goes to the NFL or remains here.
If it was me, with his talent, would probably walk, that is not the case. I am not him, do have a couple of thoughts.
If Grantham has talked with Houston and gave him good counsel, I am fine with that. Houston made a couple of statements this past season about his respect for CTG and I buy that. Through the media I hear that Richt has spoke with him. I sincerely hope that the right decision is made, not for UGA at this point, for Houston and his family.
If it turns out that Houston stays, along with the remaining folks that make up our defense, plus a couple of highly regarded recruits sign on, no doubt much could change. Many of us think that the SEC is all about defense. Over the years, that has proven to be true.
Boykin, thank you. What a great recruit he is . . . . I say recruit because in my mind he was gone. Now he informs us that he is coming back to play between the Hedges and elsewhere. Players like Boykin and Houston cannot be replaced right away, no matter how many stars follow their names. These guys are going to be leaders, and UGA at this point in time needs leadership. Not that talking out of the sides of ones mouth, leading by example.
If I am a younger player and I see these guys coming back, I am going to try and do more than those that came before me.
Signing date is close, once that is over and done with, all of us will have a better feel for what will and wont' be done in Athens.
Go Dawgs!
