A.J. Green makes it official, enters NFL draft
12:55 pm January 9, 2011, by Tim Tucker

No surprise here, but A.J. Green made it official this afternoon: He will forgo his senior season and enter the NFL draft.

Georgia’s junior wide receiver had been widely expected to enter the draft, with analysts projecting him to go in the top five picks and perhaps even as the No. 1 overall selection.

Green said the last week or so has been “hectic” as he finalized the decision with his family. He said he also talked with two former teammates who are in the NFL, quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for me,” Green said this afternoon from his home in Summerville, S.C. “This is a long-time dream since I was a little boy. I feel like my skills are up to par to make this next jump. . . . I feel like this is the best decision for me.”

Even so, he said, “it was one of the toughest decisions I’ve made, just leaving the brotherhood I have made at Georgia. . . . I’m going to really miss that.”

He said he regrets that the Bulldogs did not win a championship in his three years there.

“It hurt,” he said. “That’s what I came there for, but things always happen for a reason. I’m going to be a Bulldog for life.”

turn the page, this may turn out the best thing going forward. We will have to change our mind set much like after MS & KM left. Move OC to the outside. TK & MB will have to step up also. AM will learn to spread the ball. Go Dawgs !

Go Dawgs!

Brother you are on top of it. Move Orson Charles to the outside. Slot or WR. Aron White coming back for his senior year, this is the kind of player that New England takes and makes others scratch their heads. Rome comes our way, two tight end set, damn. Rome has also been known to move out wide.

Offensive line, what a find in my opinion . . . Kenarious Gates. This young man is going to be one of the very best. Another UGA player that will move on to the NFL.

We need this guy . . . Xzavier Ward from Moultrie (my old quail hunting country) and UGA could be looking up, instead of what we have witnessed recently.

My true concern is coaching these young men to be all that they can be. Maybe McGarity will "insist" on folks doing their jobs. Not being ugly yankeedawg1, want the best for UGA, not for individuals.

Using one of your statements from above . . .

AM will learn to spread the ball.

sadlerdawg has been in the forefront asking the coaches to move out of the dark ages and use AM based on his talents. Not every QB is a pocket passer. AM can stand in the pocket, but that limits what he can do. If they would listen, get out of the same old formations that UGA has ran since VD, the talent on this team could excel.

Good for AJ, sorry for the things that happened while he was here. That is on AJ. One thing I admire about AJ is this, he stood up and said I DID IT. I will pull for him on Sundays, regardless of the team that picks him. You go AJ.

Agree with you YD1, turn the page, EVERYONE needs to do their job. Top to bottom.

Will continue to watch the folks running the program at UGA.

A small follow up on AM moving around. Anyone watching the Packers/Eagles game? In my opinion, the way that Rodgers is being used by the Packers is the way that UGA should use AM. This is what sadlerdawg has been saying. Don't chew his butt out for running the football and scoring TD's, let the kid play.

I have some friends on the other side of the state, they say he will remain at UGA until graduation. I believe it, get that offensive line ready, use his talents. AM with IC, Katie bar the door. . . .

Fingers crossed, Buc. With a legitimate running threat, along with AM's passing prowess, throw in his ability to motor, man that could be an offense that would even make Bozo look like he knew what he was doing.

Like I told AJ at the bowl game on Beale street...If I was you I would go. You done enough for the Bulldawg Nation. The kid is a class act yes he made a mistake by selling his jersey but he man'd up right out of the gate and did'nt lie about it. While in Memphis on Wed night we where out at a bar and I bet there was every bit of 25 players in there and they where all gone (drinking) BUT 1 and that was AJ. I ask'd him why don't you drink he said they will learn one day and laughed about it. The kid deserves everything he gets by going to the NFL.
