Agree kd - I wonder when A&M is going to step out on their own

Buc - Applewhite would be a good addition for UF - Very interesting for UT - they will have lost just about everone except Brown.

And yes defense usually wins championships - except in what was the big 12

Have not been impressed with the defenses in the big 12 - they tend to more on offense (sells tickets supposidly) - the thing that worries me most is that WM is a great recruiter and that may hurt us on getting D guys that we need

And yeah Buc - they sure didn't let any grass grow - FOley knows you got to stick when the irons hot - no playing around - not sure how this will turn out - if they also get applewhite things might not fall off too much - hope MG will make good moves also

Don't you know Brantley is extremely happy about WM and especially Applewhite!!!!!! He was going to Texas in the first place and now he has the best of 3 worlds.

1. Doesn't have to leave UF
2. Play for UT's coaching staff
3. Most important......pro style offense or at least drop back passing which is his strength.

I'm sure he's stoked.

Just a rumor, but if it's true, talk about the D in Florida. Anybody seen this---

from ajc.com

UPDATE: According to the Tuscaloosa News, Muschamp is targeting another former Bulldog, Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart, to come with him to Gainesville. As you recall, Smart turned down a chance to return to Athens last season as Willie Martinez’ replacement and received a significant raise to stay at Alabama. The Tuscaloosa News reported: “It is not known if Muschamp already has offered the position to Smart, who could not be reached for comment. Smart, who last year won the Broyles Award as the nation’s top assistant coach, received a raise to $750,000 a year after Georgia made a big-money offer to him.”

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Best thing that could have happened to Brantley. Basically he had been ignored with Tebow on campus. He will be a totally different QB when he gets full attention and works from the pro set. Agree he has a huge smile on his face.

Quite frankly I don't buy everything that Meyer had to say about his leaving UF. He seemed to be headed down the same path our Dawg's have been for the past few years. A bit tougher rebuilding a team in the SEC as opposed to some of the other conferences. Meyer was lost without Mullen in my opinion. Think that he saved a bit of his reputation by leaving at this point. Time will certainly tell.

Can't quite get a grip on Smart moving to UF. However, after making that comment, Saban is known for defense and who is his number one man . . . Smart, Defensive Coordinator. Might be that KS will bide his time a bit longer, never know what might happen in Athens.

Really going to be interesting watching our AD in the coming months. Don't think that he was hired to occupy office space and do nothing.

Think that Brown now has his world turned totally upside down. He needed Muschamp just like Saban needed Smart to stay when the offers were coming in last year. Saban said to Smart that not all moves are good moves.

Guys, it is going to get very interesting this off season, me thinks . . . .

Sadlerdawg if this is true and does happen - all I have to say is it would be a slap in the face of UGA and would say to me that we have some major problems that we are unaware of

To have 2 of our players that have turned out to be what is percieved as great D coodinators to take jobs at our no 1 rival - especially if smart goes - that to me says we are in big trouble - as saban had told smart when we came calling - you don't make a lateral move - you want to move up

Not surpised that WM would go after smart - if smart takes it then we're in deep trouble

Smart is waiting for a HCing job......maybe he's eyeing UGA. Think Brown will go after Smart? Lord knows he needs somebody. UT would pay him big bucks.

Believe KS will "lay low" to see what happens in Athens next year. He has GOT to have his eyes on that HCing job.
