Van Halanger out as S-C Coordinator

After thinking about it overnight, I'm completely underwhelmed. I was hoping for someone that uses new, modern, innovative methods of strength training… sort of like the guy that the Jags brought in. Instead, we get Joe T who was Van Halanger’s understudy, and he’s going to bring in John Kasay… who was S&C coach under Dooley. Are you kidding? Our team will be doing squat thrusts instead of plyometrics.

Imo, I hope it is temporary because they need to do a NATIONAL search and hire a young, innovative S&C coach who is up on all the new types of training and conditioning. Things have changed DRAMATICALLY in that area and can't imagine Joe T or Kasay are up on the new methods.

Geez, take your time and look around.....new YOUNGER blood with NEW ideas and innovations.

Just my take after mulling it over last night.

Imo, if the move RG to only the Recruiting Coordinator, he'll probably leave.

Just had a whisper off campus that come time for the mat drills we will have another reasignment to S & C Coaching staff to make room for a new hire. Won't happen till both the college and NFL season is over. Tipoff here is nobody has been named as a replacement to Joe T's other duties.

I think this is just temp - just trying to juggle the staff to create another opening for a new hire - will get new guys after the bowls - texas and several other schools are looking for new S&C coaches also

I'm counting on ADMG to see that the new guys we get are good ones - read somewhere that when meyer said he would semi retire - the AD went ahead and had the oregon coach lined up to replace him - meyer changed his mind quickly - so I think MG will not be afraid to make whatever moves he deems neccessary to improve/protect UGA

MG is already making his mark - he's really changed our schedule a lot already - although it looks like we're headed like uf - several cream puffs - more home games each year - that has plusses and minuses - more cream puffs - more chance for all the guys to get some playing time and build toward just reloading every year - but you are not playing as many high profile teams - but then again - it does not seem to have hurt fla any

We'll see.......still rather have a national search for a young, innovative S&C coach.
