Sadler & NCD as bad as this season has been I have stated on another thread on this site I beleive we will have at least two sleepers sign Feb 2 to play defense.

Ya think there just might be a couple HS seniors sitting out there who fit CTG mold and wish list maybe just a three star with a 10 star heart. Come play for a NFL coach who can get you to the next level, play in front of 92k. A sure thing to play as a freshman be the man that puts bad back into GA Football. Time for us Dawgs to have a real feel good story. We have a stud QB, so I think there is going to be surprises for his supporting case in 2011! Go Dawgs

NCDawg - you hit the nail on the head - the buck stops with CMR all 2.8 million of them - It's his leadership that leads the coaches and players - If he demands the best then those he leads will strive for the best - CMR has no where to look but at himself for whats happened - the off the field problems have been out of control too long and the on field poor performance can be changed by him if he wants to - just look at tenn - program in shambles - D2 changes players/stratagies each week - it may pay off - all they have to do is beat vandy and uk and they will go bowling - who would have forcasted that this year - if they win 6 games and go bowling D2 should be coach of the year - to me CMR has lost the touch and the desire - he's a great man and I thank him for what he achieved at UGA

Buc - Agree - in just about every game you watch - you will hear a player called out for a great play and where is he from - GA - a top 25 class is a good class - it's what you do with them that counts

I never understood defensive recruiting under MArtinez. DEs would weigh around 240-250 DTs around 270-280, that makes no sense to me. 240-250 is a linebacker/safety in my book. DEs should be around 275+ with your DT as close to 300 as you can get.

Also, why go after so much out of state recruits? I'd much rather have a 3 star recruit from Georgia who bleeds red and black and loves UGA and is loyal to the institution. A player that goes our on Saturdays and gives it his all for the simple reason that he's playing for the red and black, not to improve his draft stock so he can leave his junior year. Loyalty and heart goes along way in my opinion both on the field and off.

Pretty hard to pass up recruiting an AJ Green, Lattimore, A. Murray, O. Charles, K. Moreno, M. Stafford........do I need to go on?

Certainly get your point though.

Weight to me should not play a major factor. I would rather have speed than size. I can remember very few safeties that came out of high school at 240-250, or even linebackers. Ogletree was about a big as I can remember and he was in that 210-215 range. The key in this league is speed. Size obvioulsy plays a factor, but no factor in this league is more significant than speed. So you take a 240 DE that can move, hope to put about 15-20lbs of the right weight on him, and don't lose any speed.

As far as location, I agree to a point. I would never turn down a 5 star to sign a 3 star local kid. Don't think that anybody would.

You may be right on yd1 - noticed we've had some new prospects added to our lists on the various sites that are defensive guys - a few are jc guys - CTG&Co want um big and fast - speed kills
