Ok, I'll give CTG a pass this year but even though it "seems" we are a little better on D, we are just about as bad as prior years. WE CAN'T STOP ANYBODY.
I realize nobody has stopped AU (except MSU)but my case in point is the USC/UF game last night. UF ran ALL OVER US........USC made them look like a HS team.
Our D still sucks and imo is mostly responsible for most of our losses.
This year a pass CTG but you had better get it together....
(btw, again, imo.....thought the play calling was pretty dang good, had to be CMR......the on side kick after the half was the turning point in the game, gutsy call....not our year for sure)

Wlayon I feel the same as you about the D. I have said in the past the D has cost us more games than the O. Arkansas being the biggest with the blown coverages. With that being said the Auburn game this weekend just looked like the D was worn out in the end. I think the quick scores in the first quarter hurt the D because they couldnt get off the field long enough. Hopefully execution in the secondary gets better next year.
As far as next year goes I will go on record as saying a 9-3 season will be a great year. I don't see the D improving that much and the O struggling with a young Offensive line. AM will be fine but the runningbacks will be huge in pass coverage next year. As always GO DAWGS!!

Suffice to say, Grantham's honeymoon is over.

Agreed - I'm willing to give him another year though before I get on him too hard - he inherited the players that Blind Willie recruited. At the risk of sounding overly negative - we somehow have the only safety in the nation who appears to be morally opposed to physical contact. Not much Grantham can do to correct players like that, although it makes me wonder how Rambo (I can't stop calling him Bambi) can possibly be the best option we have back there - give me a walk on that will hit someone over some of these "athletes" that use the Deion Sanders technique of tackling: let them run by then try and jump on their back.
On another totally irrelevant note I've been in hell since Saturday - living in chicken country and surrounded by their delusional fans who seem to think that they'll be joining the NFL next year as they are just too good for the SEC.

We will never get back on top without stellar defense.
Grantham is trying but it's like we have an incurable disease.
