The SEC is becoming an embarrassment.
We have the worst officials in the country.
Slive is slime.
Get an undefeated team at the exclusion of fair play, cheating or any thing else.
I am afraid this Newton thing will taint the league for a long time.
Roll Tide. Go Gamecocks.
For all the old farts like me. Fairley is the new Darwin Holt.
For those that aren't aware of Darwin Holt . . . . Coach Dodd was a total gentleman, and a great football coach.
The initial spark for Dodd's withdrawal was a historic feud with Alabama Crimson Tide Coach Bear Bryant. The feud began when Tech was visiting the Tide at Denny Stadium in 1961. After a Tech punt, Alabama fair-caught the ball. Chick Granning of Tech was playing coverage and relaxed after the signal for the fair catch. Darwin Holt of Alabama continued play and smashed his elbow into Granning's face causing severe fracturing in his face, a broken nose, and blood-filled sinuses. Granning was knocked unconscious and suffered a severe concussion, the result of which left him unable to play football ever again. Dodd sent Bryant a letter asking Bryant to suspend Holt after game film indicated Holt had intentionally injured Granning. Bryant never suspended Holt. The lack of discipline infuriated Dodd and sparked Dodd's interest in withdrawing from the SEC.
This is the kind of crap that is being allowed by SLIVE.
Never has it been a wish of mine to see players get hurt, often when there is a replay on TV showing broken bones and KO's, I don't watch. Sensationalism, big bucks. Have come off of my high horse in the case of Fairley. He needs to have his ass blindsided and HURT.
BUMP!!
Tensions boiled over near the end of the game. Two Auburn players, defensive end Michael Goggans and defensive tackle Mike Blanc, were ejected for throwing punches.
"Just really disappointed in that," Auburn coach Gene Chizik said after the game. "That's a lot of reflection on us as coaches, and I am embarrassed by it. That's not who we are."
BS!!
