Point 1: CMR ought to know the finer points of coaching, such as the benefit/risk of preseason practices. Sure, light contact will save on injuries, but injuries are part of the game here and the long term benefits have to outweigh the short term worries. You need to be tough to play football. CMR should know this. He should have managed this properly during preseason, not admit to such a freshman mistake half way through. Also, how long will it take him to admit to the changed landscape of superstardom in college football. Ken Malcome should not be redshirted. Put the kid in the mix and force our primadonnas to step up or get the heck out of the way. What if Knowshon had played his first year in Athens? What are we gaining by having potential sitting on the bench. Why own a Ferrari if you're only going to park it in the garage?
Point 2: I agree with you on the Alabama/Scu game, but I'm guessing they'll meet again in Atlanta and I can't see Alabama getting caught out twice.

Yeah, I suppose it's no different than any other management job in that you have to find a balance between risks and rewards. I just happen to think that we exist in the extremes too much, rather than in that middle ground between injuries and coddling that ends up building a solid core of tough kids. Not that they're not tough, I'm just saying tht the season starts at game one, not game six, so we need to be ready out of the gate.
