Short story wlayton. (Is that possible
)
Big hit, I played QB. Had been knocked goofy before. Put me in an ambulance, news to me at that point. First memory was being awake in a doctors chair, much like a dental chair. Doctor had my eye lids open with one hand and shining a light into my eyes with the other. Doctor said, not good.
Our defensive coach had left the game to ride in the ambulance with me and a couple of high schoolers that took care of the football team.
Coach Patterson asked Doctor Lipscomb if I could return to the game . . . . I will stop there. Doctor Lipscomb used some language that I am sure any Sailor has yet to learn.
I understand Rambo. Big big hit against Auburn. You never truly get past those blackouts. More is known today, and that is good. Sorry for the long wind again, many on this board I am sure have had their "bell rung".
Yo Buc - played OL - had my bell knocked out by a guy named Sambo - yeah back then - if you could walk - you could play - did not play for a while - then had my knee torn up later - was not able to play after that - yeah big hit against auburn - you never forget

At least it was in a game that meant something. I got a concussion on the last day of practice my Senior year!! Was never going to suit up again, except for that Friday night game (which they held me out until the second half.....eyes still dilated a little, I guess). We had a BAD dude that was known for knocking people out with his freaking forearm...........our little activity was "Bull in the Ring" (I'm sure you remember THAT drill)............well HE was the bull..........I was his last high school victim. :S :S

One thing that I did not understand about the game last week, NW is supposed to be one of the hardest hitting safeties that we have, why was he not on the field more(or at all)? I hate questioning coaches because I know they put in a lot more time coaching than I do watching but that was one thing I just couldn't seem to understand.
I know this is going to sound bad, but I did see some things that encouraged me. AM is going to be a very nice QB. Never looked rattled, threw the ball wisely and confidently. I also saw some positives with the D. Grantham, in my opinion, did a one hell of a job. He put guys in position to make plays. He had the X's and O's figured out, which is more than I could ever say last year. I also liked the way the JH and DG played at OLB.
Things that must change in a hurry. Tackling. Grantham put guys in position to make plays, now, we just have to get them to finish. We tackled about as poorly as we could have, and still only gave up 17pts. Running game. It is a must. No reason for a team with as many vet's as we have on the OL not to run the ball dominantly. We also have to let AM be AM.
As for this week, I would blitz Mallett every play. At times, the pressure was tremendous on Garcia last week, and I believe it has to be like that all day on RM. Sell out. Never let the kid get comfortable. Offensively, run the ball well and take some chances down the field. Hopefully, we will have AJ back to make that happen a little more.
