KD,I definitely understand what you are saying that Lattimore is a hard back to bring down. Had our D missed tackles on him because they wrapped him up and still couldn't bring him down, I would not have a leg to stand on. However, too many times, I saw our D attempt to arm tackle him, dive at his ankles, or just flat out miss when he didn't even make a cut. BASICS!!!!! Not to mention, the D missed tackles on other players as well, due to the same poor techniques. Unacceptable, IMO.
And you will get zero argument from me that the O was the problem. Not the players, but the play calling. AM did amazing, not because of Bozo's inept play calling, but in spite of it.
The problem with that is the D line got manhandled and all they had was arms to tackle with. Their O line pushed the front 3 around. I am not surprised because the shift to 3-4 will require some different talent from the 4-3 and we may not be there yet.
That nose guard is key. If he is not eating the buffet every day and squatting 600 or more pounds the 3-4 might have trouble.
I saw the arm tackling you were referring to but it appear the be the result of getting whooped at the point of contact and not coaching. We need different types of lineman now. There are no Strouds and Seymours in that group.
