Couple of thoughts:

1. Great news
2. He wants to play RB but he will be better on the D side
3. Trust coaches?......well UM will "tell him" he's playing RB, then will move him to LB once he signs.
4. If CMR plays him at RB, hope he's not another R. Samuels and wastes a year.
5. Saw where the 2011 class is ranked 7th right now......get those 2, then maybe 3-4.
6. He signs with UGA, you can probably kiss Crowell good-bye. You can't tell Crowell that you are going to put Wilder on the D side of the ball, so come to UGA and be our #1 RB and at the same time lie to Wilder that he can play RB if he signs with UGA.......uh, that won't work. We needed to get Crowell FIRST imo.

Agree with much you posted wlayton, as usual.

Think maybe JWJ might be a bit different that RS. Big difference I think is that JWJ has been around a lot of football wise folks in his short life. Not sure how much exposure RS had as far as "football knowledge" in his short stint with high school ball.

Just a guess here, and that of course is all this amounts to. I have a feeling that Crowell is heading to Alabama. Teammate apparently was not that impressed with UGA visit. Would love to have Crowell . . . speaking for myself, not getting a lot of positive vibes.

Somehow this "supposed" signing of JWJ today at 5 makes me wonder if there is not much more involved in this earlier than previously announced press conference. If JWJ is heading to UGA, he had to be totally impressed with his visits to Athens. Still feel Coach Dungy.

Again, either of these two athletes are going to make some university proud. Good to be in the hunt for athletes of this caliber.

I contacted my "contact" and here's what he had to say:


I will believe Wilder is coming to UGA when he announces it. Before then, I think he could very well announce for UF or FSU, especially since he said he was going to visit Athens again but never did. He instead visited Gainesville and Tally.

I also wouldn’t write Crowell off if Wilder does go to UGA. They’re very different backs. Wilder wants to play RB, and UGA will give him that opportunity. However he would be an awesome linebacker. His tape is incredible. He’s as fast as Rennie Curran, but he hits like Thomas Davis. Wilder may eventually wind up at LB like Samuel.


Guess if he comes to Athens I'll have to start wearing my Thomas Davis jersey again.

Best information that I have is that Wilder shunned Gainesville and did spend three days in Tallahassee.

Since my last post I have looked at several blogs around the Central Florida area and the concensus is that Wilder will attend FSU.

Gators have their lips out, now saying that there are plenty of fish in the sea. Any school that gets Wilder is getting one heck of an athlete. Also, if Wilder does attend UGA and is a running back . . . . some of the pundits say that he can and will add some more muscle, as if he needed more muscle. With his speed and strength, playing at 230, would strike fear into a lot of players hearts. Wilder has no fear. He can carry that weight and still be quick.

Sounds like he's a BEAST. It will be great if we can get one of the two.

Both would be a coup !!
