I want to be optomistic BUT reality sets in - guess I'm expecting too much - I do think play will be much different than we've seen in the past - especially on defense - but you usually don't go thru this much change without some growing pains

We loose 3 games

SC - yes lakatos blanked them out last year - but the chickens usually collapse at end of year and do not play as good as at the first

Ark - we will just not be able to hang

Aub - we'll be tired - 11 weeks without a break

2 wins better than last year - not bad for a transition year

HEY RD.......I'll accept your prediction GLADLY because you are saying we beat UF!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......I'll TAKE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Yeah wlayton

I think we can take them - a lot of change on both teams - both have BIG changes on D coaching - we gained several good coachs - they lost a good coach - them with a lot of new players - us with some new players - they will have a qb with some experiance - us no experiance at qb - think both teams will make progress durring the year - if we can stay healthy and progress at a good rate - then I think we take the game

Think we gotta be happy with a split in the back-to-back games vs. USC & Arky...not sure which one we lose (could lose em' both, could win em' both). Would rather lose to Petrino "the quitter" than Spurrier "the slimebag"...if we gotta lose one???

Miss State game really concerns me; they are much better than most folks realize.

Trip to Colorado should be a win BUT let's pray for no early Winter Rocky Mtn. blizzards to slow down our Southern boys.

Tennessee--Oh lord, may we simply beat them senseless with a HOBNAIL boot!

Kentucky scares me too...we just haven't played well against them in years it seems.

Gotta beat them Gators THIS year! Not exactly counting on it but I do believe in the power of positive thinking, FWIW.

I agree with RabunDog about the Auburn game, I'm afraid 11 weeks straight with NO BYE = NO WIN on the Plains for our Dawgies.

NATS game will be an all-out WAR but I like our chances w/the BYE week to prepare for the triple option...Still, really tough to pick that one this far in advance.

If we just get back to playing SMART, DISCIPLINED, HARD-NOSED football, win or lose, this Dawg fan will be WOOFING all year long!

Is it Sept. YET???

Game by game (FINALLY!) from dapolla:

Georgia 55, UL-Lafayette 10

Unfortunately, we won't shut out ULL, but we will score on them. I don't consider 55-10 to be a blowout, though; we won't have to try to score 50. We SHOULD score 70 with the offense we have.

Georgia 21, SCarolina 10

WHAT? Yeah, I know, but our defense will be better this year, and it will be something Stephen Garcia's never seen, especially from us. Practices are closed, so Spurrier won't be able to prep either, and their first game (against Southern Miss) will be tougher than ours.

Georgia 45, Arkansas 35

Yeah, they'll score on us. Ryan Mallet can't be stopped that easily. But Petrino's never (in Atlanta, at Louisville, or at Arkansas) been able to prove that he can defend anything at all, ever. And with the weapons on offense (Caleb, Washaun, Marlon Brown, AJ, Kris Durham, a Wild Dawg formation featuring Branden Smith AND Logan Grey, and oh yeah Aaron Murray) that we have, we'll be able to score on their porous D. Plus we're at home this time. Advantage: HEDGES!

Georgia 24, MSU 17

This one'll be closer than it should be. Count on a tenacious D from the Impostor Bulldogs, but not on them scoring. Next year's the year we'll probably have to worry about MSU.

Georgia 27, Colorado 13

This will NOT be a 14-13 affair like the 2006 game in Athens. The last time we travelled this far West, we beat Arizona State like a redheaded stepchild. No reason to believe we won't do the same to a much worse Colorado team in Boulder.

Georgia 34, Tennessee 31

Derek Dooley is a GOOD COACH, y'all! Plus he'll have half the season to prep for us. Don't count on Georgia laying down yet again for the Vols. Last year was a total embarrassment, as were 2006 and 2007. Don't think CMR wants to finish the decade 1-4 in his last five games against the Urnge.

Georgia 38, Vandy 14

Sorry, Coach Caldwell. I don't care how much the press likes you; we're going to smoke you like a turkey.

Georgia 38, Kentucky 24

Um, yeah. We haven't lost to Kentucky twice in a row in our history. We haven't even failed to beat them two years running since 1939-40, when we lost in '39 and tied them in '40. We beat the Wildcats this year. No problem.

Georgia 24, Florida 31

Yeah, I just can't bring myself to predict a win over UF, even though I think we have what it takes to beat them. Just can't really make it real in my head.

Georgia 63, Idaho State 0

If the gap is any closer than 63 points, I may kick down the hedges and tackle Todd Grantham. Because that would be bullcrap. And he's a grown man; he should know that!

Georgia 28, Auburn 27

I agree on this one. Nailbiter. Plus, we haven't beaten Auburn five years running since since 1944-48, which was part of a 9-year stint of not losing to Auburn (we tied them in '49 and beat them three years running from '50-52). I'm not saying Auburn's any better than they were last year, but it'll be scary.

Georgia 42, Tech 20

Sorry, Coach Johnson. We've got your offense figured out, and your defense continues its decline. This will not be a repeat of your first game between the hedges.

Georgia 13, Alabama 30 (SEC Championship)

That's right, folks, I've got us winning the East this year. Unfortunately, I don't see Alabama losing enough SEC games to be out of the running for the East. They might lose once (either to Florida or Auburn (and if you don't believe me about the Tigers, watch last year's game!)), but no one in the West will have fewer than two SEC losses. 'Bama murders us in Atlanta, but with an 11-2 record and a Georgia Dome appearance we go to...

THE SUGAR BOWL

Georgia 33, Cincinnati 21

I don't see Cincy falling back enough without Brian Kelly to lose to a single Big Least opponent this year. However, this January will be a repeat of last year's trip to New Orleans for the Bearcats, and Georgia finishes with a 12-2 record and a #2 ranking in the AP poll, but a #4 ranking in the Coaches' Poll (behind national champ Alabama, #2 Boise State (who goes undefeated but despite a #5 preseason ranking fails AGAIN to make the BCS National Championship Game and instead destroys Pac-10 champ Oregon State in the Fiesta Bowl), and #3 Nebraska, who after going undefeated comes up just short in their first MNC game appearance since Miami destroyed them in 2001.

I am with dapolla.

I do not accept losing to S. Carolina. It simply is not part of who I am. When it happens it takes therapy to get over. UGA is simply better top to bottom the SC.

Hey dapolla - your not alone - the college football news picks UGA at #3 with an 11-2 record

The Idaho state game might be not so much - if we are only 1 loss after beating uf and 9 straight games - the 1st string might not play much to be ready for auburn the next week - think auburn will be a lot better than last year

Also think the ut game could be a blow out - they have problems - we get them right after they travel to LSU and just before bama - agree he's a good coach - but some are even picking them to loose to kentucky this year most have them at no better than 4-6 (tenn martin / uab / memphis / vandy)

agree we'll loose the bama game - but think it may be fairly close
