One Dawg's Take . . .

One Dawg's Take . . . was created by Buc
Read a couple of statements on some blogs that have some UGA support or no support. Some talk of CTG being on the "hot seat" if he does not get it done in a couple of years. Where the hell does this type of thing come from? Some on the positive side make the remark . . . "The Return of ERK". CTG is neither going to be on the "hot seat" nor is he "The Return of ERK".

Jerry Jones would not think twice about firing someone, same goes for hiring someone. JJ hired CTG and apparently knew what he was doing. Dallas is pretty fearsome along the defensive front.

Coach Grantham said early on that things were going to change in Athens. I am a believer. Man knows football, not only defensive football, offensive football as well. Folks I am not going to be surprised if CTG comes on like gang busters with his "new defense" this year. NOT next year, THIS YEAR. Does anyone on this board doubt that his "attitude" won't carry over to the defensive side of the ball? I don't. The finger pointing and shouting that CTG did in the Spring is fixing to be intensified . . . . starting tomorrow, Monday. Also, do not think that Coach Belin or Coach Lakatos are going to be any different. If they were, they would not be on the defensive side of the ball coaching in Athens.

This in my opinion is the last stop for Coach Grantham before he wears the "Head Coaches Hat". That tells me that he is going to accomplish the things in Athens that so many of us have missed as kentdaddy said, the last five years, not the two years past. Over the years I have heard the statement . . ."Rome was not built in a day". We can take what we want from that statement . . . . guess it applies to Rome. I think that we are going to see UGA's defense THIS YEAR. Too many athletes to be mediocre. Coaching too strong to allow "mediocre".

Saban went to Alabama, changed everything. Results speak for themselves. UGA beat Bama with a terrific pass play in the end zone in Tuscaloosa. Great win. Look what has happened since then, they come to Athens and hand it to us . . . and everyone else in the toughest football conference in the country. Saban could have put many, many more points on us in Athens, did not, speaks well for Coach Saban. If that had been Coach HattyDoodySpurrier, he would have hung 100 on us. The reason that I bring this particular game up is this . . . In Athens we have what it takes to get UGA to where all of us want the Dawgs to be.

Final statement. When Coach Grantham signed on, he went to work. Why? In my opinion he has worked for folks like Coach Saban. Knows how to get it done. I love UGA football, also think that this might be the best assemblage of coaches in UGA's history. Sorry to be so long, however after watching UGA football for more years that I should discuss . . . . I am excited with the changes I have seen this year. I would hate to have the hat on and face this squad coached by Coach Grantham, Coach Belin and Coach Lakatos. A three headed monster. Truly I am not discounting the other coaches. Go Dawgs. Again, I apologize for being so long winded. I can only hold it in for sooooo loooong.

wlayton from you that means a lot. You and several others on this board not only understand, but wear the colors. I go into this year not afraid of ANYONE. Mean that sincerely. I listen to and read all of the "stuff" that is out there, be assured that I trust almost all of the folks on this board. Many times I read articles and posts that make me want to believe that I am 20/25 again and ACT that way. Don't think that I can point a finger at one person on this board, even the "invaders" that don't post positive opinions whether for or against the UGA.

Often, and it is good, folks take shots at each other. As it should be if you are affiliated with another school. I am glad that this board has kept an open forum for folks to speak, speak without a lot of garbage following their true feelings.

So many terrific football players coming out of high schools these days. Good for those of us that love the game and the young men that display their talents. I pray that we can, powers that be can, keep college football above the BS. Personally feel that college football is really close to making some serious changes to the game and the way that it is played. NFL at one point had the upper hand, still does, but the gap is closing and that makes me even more interested in these young men coming out of high school. Not sure how some of the rules changes should be implemented, would like to sit in on some of the conversations as a fly on the wall and listen.

I must stop, however, Monday, this board will light up . . . football is back. I have one wish . . . . . hope that the MAGGOTS that like to leave their trash for OTHERS TO PICK UP, keep their "nasty a$$es away from the UGA Campus. You don't respect the Campus, you sure as hell don't respect yourselves. Go You Silver Britches and (snicker . . . wlayton :-)) All in fun. CTG, CTG, you are the MAN. :-)

HEY Buc I agree with all the D coaches being a great group we have now. My concern is in the first yr of this new Def, do we have the 3 lineman to play a 3-4 right now? and just in general do we have the right personnel for it this season. I believe the coaches will do a much better job. GO DAWGSSS!!!!!!

Once A DAWG Always A DAWG

Buc, once again right on the money in all of your observations. I have jumped on here and thrown a comment or two in CTG discussions about how I love the fire and moxy being brought back to the D. I am right there with you in that we will see a significant difference this season.

Another missing piece to the puzzle I see coming back on the D that was lacking the past few seasons is Discipline! CTG will be all up in some butts when there is play lacking discipline and execution.

Again, no doubt on the immediate impact he is already making. Feel sorry for those Rajun Cajuns as they will get the first dose of that Junkyard Dawg Defense!
