Really feel good about the signing of CL . . . . who isn't . . . . quality young man who happens to play football . . . . for UGA . . . .
Thought about starting another thread wlayton, but think that this fits here.
Really turned on with the quality and (size) of the DB's and Safeties that we are signing. Not too much hits the press and blogs when the defense is talked about, that part of the defense that now has Coach Lakatos running the show.
wlayton, last couple of years I know that folks in my neighborhood could hear me screaming about our DB's getting lost in coverage, coverage that they did not understand.
Not only did we get a solid Defensive Coordinator, we have excellent linebacker and defensive backfield coaches. This is better than good, it is an awakening. Coach Lakatos/Coach Belin are going to be the pieces that any Defensive Coordinator needs to make the new system work. Not overlooking the other coaches, just mentioning the new guys. Getting these coaches mean as much to UGA as signing top notch high school players.
I keep reading about UGA taking some time to catch on to the system. I won't argue that in its totality, but I am willing to wager that by the time the Dawgs have three or four games under their belts, it will be more than good, it will be SEC worthy. Maybe I am wrong, but I think I see a lot of depth.
Mentioned in another thread that I am excited about, the supposed competition at QB. Know this for sure, AM will be a tough young man to move. CL comes in with all the glitter than can bestowed on a recruit. This is not a point of who is better, that will be proven on the field. Best man wins. Ohio State (The) signed the top QB in the country a couple of years back, looks like he is now, since the last Rose Bowl, coming into his own. If CL walks on campus and is THAT GOOD, we are in great shape at the QB position.
I am still one of those that believe that you build a team from the inside out. I sure hope that UGA is headed in that direction. There are some SUPERIOR athletes in the State of Georgia and within 5 hours of Athens that can and will make all of us proud. Future certainly looks bright for those of us that wear the Red and Black proudly.
wlayton, it is tough to give a daughter away. Know that you were knee knocking walking down the aisle. We love them, hate to give them up. Good fortune gives us another member to the family that is appreciated. Know that all went well, congratulations again.
