Road Trip

Road Trip was created by wlayton
Just talked to my contact guy and he said that last week, CMR sent all 7 coaches out TOGETHER to as many schools as they could in Georgia. They weren't allowed to talk to players, only could say hello, but their goal was to be making a statement that they were going to \"lock up\" the state of Georgia players for the University of Georgia. All 7......wow!!

Btw, they say that CL has already been on the phone recruiting guys......especially that WR, Peate, from SC. We need to get that guy, he's a big time WR.

Really feel good about the signing of CL . . . . who isn't . . . . quality young man who happens to play football . . . . for UGA . . . . :)

Thought about starting another thread wlayton, but think that this fits here.

Really turned on with the quality and (size) of the DB's and Safeties that we are signing. Not too much hits the press and blogs when the defense is talked about, that part of the defense that now has Coach Lakatos running the show.

wlayton, last couple of years I know that folks in my neighborhood could hear me screaming about our DB's getting lost in coverage, coverage that they did not understand.

Not only did we get a solid Defensive Coordinator, we have excellent linebacker and defensive backfield coaches. This is better than good, it is an awakening. Coach Lakatos/Coach Belin are going to be the pieces that any Defensive Coordinator needs to make the new system work. Not overlooking the other coaches, just mentioning the new guys. Getting these coaches mean as much to UGA as signing top notch high school players.

I keep reading about UGA taking some time to catch on to the system. I won't argue that in its totality, but I am willing to wager that by the time the Dawgs have three or four games under their belts, it will be more than good, it will be SEC worthy. Maybe I am wrong, but I think I see a lot of depth.

Mentioned in another thread that I am excited about, the supposed competition at QB. Know this for sure, AM will be a tough young man to move. CL comes in with all the glitter than can bestowed on a recruit. This is not a point of who is better, that will be proven on the field. Best man wins. Ohio State (The) signed the top QB in the country a couple of years back, looks like he is now, since the last Rose Bowl, coming into his own. If CL walks on campus and is THAT GOOD, we are in great shape at the QB position.

I am still one of those that believe that you build a team from the inside out. I sure hope that UGA is headed in that direction. There are some SUPERIOR athletes in the State of Georgia and within 5 hours of Athens that can and will make all of us proud. Future certainly looks bright for those of us that wear the Red and Black proudly.

wlayton, it is tough to give a daughter away. Know that you were knee knocking walking down the aisle. We love them, hate to give them up. Good fortune gives us another member to the family that is appreciated. Know that all went well, congratulations again. :woohoo:

Yes wlayton - read somewhere that they were planning on visiting over 300 high schools - would only have time to say hello

I agree Buc - I think the first few games will be the turning point - AM will have to learn quick - the plus is that he will have lots of experiance around him - the D will have a learning curve also - but I feel like they will improve as the season goes along

I really don't expect we will do much better than last year record wise - but I do think we will have a good team be the end of the year - just think of bama's first year transitioning to the 3/4 was not very pretty - BUT the last 2 have been pretty good for them - I just hope that if we don't do much better (record wise) that folks don't get too nasty - the bama fans got a little testy but they saw/knew that things were going to make a big turnaround and they sure did

Thanks Buc.....actually very happy to give her away to this guy.....great guy, very stable and settled. Will be a great addition to the family. Only problem is that he's a gator. While I \"Toasted\" her....I \"Roasted\" him. Good luck with that part of the marriage. My daughter is a HUGE Dawg fan and will watch games at her place by herself. She acts just like me during the games and HATES the gators (really gives him a hard time).

AM is going to have a DECIDED advantage on CL once he gets on campus. AM will have been in the system for over two years and believe because of that, they will want to redshirt CL. Watched film on CL and thought he looked very good but does not have a MS arm.....not even close. BUT he may be more accurate and believe he also may turn out to be a better college QB than MS. Believe MS was MADE for the NFL.

Think that you and kentdaddy have been \"hanging\" around too long. Laughed my can off. Within my family and friends we have gators, seminoles and hurricanes, but THE DAWGS RULE. (In my home) . . .:woohoo:

RabunDog, can't quite put my finger on it, but . . . . something keeps slapping me on the back of my stubborn head saying . . . . 10 wins. Keep looking over my shoulder and all I can see are UGA Dawgs smiling. . . . .think maybe it must be the Bloody Marys or whiskey and waters. Really feel that the SEC is wide open this year.

wlayton, if CL can put the ball in the hands of the receiver, and one of the receivers is the one that you and CL are talking about,(Charone Peake)looks real good. Still say that many on this board and the UGA football nation are going to see what AM can and will do. AM is smart, understands, and does not have a noodle arm. Not a Stafford arm, but a seriously good arm. AM's arm is as good or better than the Super Bowl QB's arm. Fact.

Damn I love football, especially UGA football. This is a good (better than good?) UGA FOOTBALL TEAM. :woohoo:

Allow me this . . . . was going to shut my trap, however that never happens! :woohoo:

We have coaches and players that have RESPECT for one another. If there is a sour apple in the bunch, his ass is grass and the coaches are the lawnmower. I know that is old and outdated, but I feel it is the truth when we look at what is happening at UGA 2010 AND BEYOND.

One more thing if you have read this post . . . . in your post type YES all caps if you believe that we (UGA) will win 10 or more games. Be honest and we will come back at the end of the season and see where each of us stand.

I start.

YES. That includes a win in JAX. Stepping out BROTHERS. :woohoo: :woohoo:
