None of that is worth a hooters damn if you don't have the big nasties up front. Good/great OL and this team is truly dangerous, and that includes some paybacks due to anyone that wears ORANGE.
I am pumped Buc--thanks for that post!
Your last sentence about the O-line or lack thereof jumped out at me.
IMHO, we need MAJOR improvement from our Oline if we expect to compete for the SEC East, let alone the conference & the MNC. It is time for our O-line to man up & play physical from snap to whistle for all 60 minutes. I agree, coaching for the O-line is NOT a problem at all, it's about fundamentals, execution, and desire.
How many times did a UGA O-lineman get flagged for false start penalties this season? I'm afraid I don't want to know (dapolla knows I'd betcha?) but I'm guessing we had to be at the top of the SEC (I.E. the bottom) when it comes to false starts. By contrast, how many times did Bama, who I hate to say it but have fielded BY FAR the best OL in the SEC for 2 years running now, get a stupid false start penalty. All I know is we have a boat load of very experienced starters on the OL (Did we lose anybody on our 2 deep at OL other than Vince Vance?) and hopefully, god willing, a healthy Sturdivant with the great CSS leading them. Maybe having a more mobile QB like Murray will help the linemen? I dunno.
Also, I went to the WLOCP using some 1st row tickets courtesy of Roy Barnes (thank you so much ex-governor) and I couldn't help but notice how UF's OL looked like grown men and ours looked like a bunch of oversized softies. Your right Buc, don't matter how explosive our offense is nor how improved our defense may become if the Big DAWGS in the trenches don't handle their biz. I know we have the right coach & I think we have the right players, but again I must say that it's time for the O-line to step it up and give our team an offensive identity!
If the upperclassmen can't get the job done, I hope that CSS takes a page from CTG's book and opens up the competition for the best man to win.
Some may argue otherwise, but for me the Dawgs BEST team during the CMR era was the 2002 dawgs & that team fielded our most experienced, most physical, and most cohesive OL, coincidence, I think not?
Hate to bring up this negativity but I just call em' like I see em'. I truly think our 2010 OL has the potential to dominate, I just want to see that potential realized on the gridiron. Be anxious to hear all of your thoughts regarding our Oline?
GATA Offensive LineMEN!!!
