Haven't been here as long as you guys sadlerdawg, know I am a bit (a lot) more vocal (just have this habit of running off at the fingertips) . . . . has something to do with being retired (earned it) and looking for places that satisfy me.
There are several of you that I have a deep respect for, and quite frankly, some of the new folks that Steve has allowed to come in are really good, knowledgable folks. Folks that want to pass the ball and enjoy thoughts from others here. Damn good board.
Think I have said this before, have given up on a lot of blogs that I participated in before. Good thread starts and within four or five posts, the thread is taken over with folks that don't have a clue what the thread is about.
Such is the case with the world wide (web) internet, everyone wants to be published. Which is fine, if you are trying to add something to the conversation.
Good example of this is in the AJC, one of the sportswriters has folks trying their dead level best to be FIRST on the blog. That particular sportswriter posted a week or so ago that he thought it was a cool thing to do.
Some of us that have been in the publishing business know that it is called \"job protection\". Need those hits . . . . I truly miss the days of Jesse Outlar and now Furman Bisher in the print media. Those guys worked at the Journal/Constitution and earned their stripes. Can't say that for some of the \"imposters\" that represent themselves as sportswriters in this day and age. They lurk and take thoughts from others, not all, some, and they should be ashamed. Maybe even tarred and feathered . . . .
One of the posters here said that I was in the same boat as some of those folks that I just mentioned. He failed to mention that some of his post was totally false. This is the first time that I have really raised the issue of people bushwhacking threads.
Until Steve kicks me off, you folks have to put up with this \"old fart\". Long winded on both ends . . . .
