Kirby Update,.....

My posts have been lacking lately for a couple of reasons, Buc. One is I'm getting very frustrated with this DC search. I know I'm not privvy to alot of behind the scenes stuff, but my take is this--Richt doesn't have his man, has been trying to get him, and appears more desparate as he goes. I'm basing that on the amounts of $$ that have been offered. It keeps going up with each new candidate. I think Foster, Chavis, or Smart would all be good hires, but I didn't think any of them would leave their respective programs. I know money talks, but all of their schools have the same resources we do, and could match or exceed our offers.
The other reason I haven't posted alot, is I've been waiting to hear a confirmation. It's hard to discuss and/or argue over speculative names being mentioned.
I agree with you that Richt let the program decline too long, and I think that is making the search more difficult. Other team's boards view UGA as a sinking ship and it would be nonsensical for highly touted DC's to leave their programs for UGA. I don't agree that's the case, but that's the public perception, and it's hurting us.
I personally believe Richt can get us going in the right direction, but it's going to take 100% effort on his part, no distractions. If other parts of his personal life creep into the picture, it will be a long year next year and I think Richt won't be long with the program.

I don't buy the idea that folks are laughing at the dawgs predicament. I think nervousness would be more appropriate. I'd be nervous too if I thought I had to play the Dawgs with the defense back on track, especially with some of the offensive players here. We won 8 games with nothing on defense. Yeah I'd be nervous too. \"Hunker Down\"

You don't have to buy the idea, slide, cause I ain't selling it. But it's true that's what people are saying, especially on the team's that had DC's we were interested in. Like I said, I don't believe we're a sinking ship either, but other team's fans do.

I hope they keep believing it. That'll make it that much easier.

Man, this is crazy. All of the talk and rumors are about to make me need anti-depression medication. I wonder why all of the news coming out concerning these would-be DC's have been coming out from the other team or from the media? Why hasn't CMR made any statements letting the DAWG Nation know what is going on? He could put a lot of us at ease if we just knew something from our own side. I know he cannot make us privvy to the details of any deals he is trying to make, but it just seems fishy that all I have seen out of everything is a bunch of pay raises for other coaches. What the *$&$& is really going on? Every other team with a coaching vacancy has had no probelm getting it filled. This better be one heck of a hire when it comes out or I feel that UGA will be hurt by the whole episode. I for one really hope we get someone who isn't already someone else's DC. I like the prospect of an NFL guy myself. Kirby Smart would have been great (I think) but I wonder how much of the defense is his and how much is really NS. Just give me somebody. I can't take much more.
