Well, I hope you're right, slide, and I wish I could believe a deal was done. But the money supposedly offered KS was in no way guaranteed that he wouldn't accept it. And hell, if Richt wanted to save face with the Dawg nation, he'd have fired WM last year...(you know, when he could have hired Chavis instead of just getting him a big raise.)

I guarantee you no one is as P.O.d as me for holding on to WM as long as we did. I really believe that caution is what is driving this waiting game and we will be grateful for the outcome(a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP) before it is all over. We have the right head coach, the right core coaching staff, some really great talent on the team, and a program that cares about more than winning at all cost. I know I want to end this aggravation as soon as possible,but, the fact remains that it won't until the time is right. I believe the time is near though cause we need to get on the recruiting trail asap.

One of the BS reasons, spouted on local radio, for Smart and Chavis turning down Ga is that they feel he is on the hot seat and could be gone next year.

As for Coach Richt not getting his guy yet: he is shooting for the moon. He stated he is after the best he can find, someone that will help take this team to a championship. Those guys don't come cheap, and their current employers don't give them up easily. Hang in there guys and trust Coach Richt. He is doing the best he can for UGA.

Folks if CMR does not have this right, there will be hell to pay. Have read every post in this thread, and I can't really say that I am impressed with CMR's decisions (or lack of) at this point.

One thing I pride myself on for a lot of years is being patient, feel that CMR is that type of person. Not sure that patience is what we are seeing to this point. Personally feel that he let the program get away too early with the success that UGA was having under his tutelage. Put his CEO hat on.

When you have the talent to win and you look around and have high recruiting classes year after year, then begin to wonder why you have to score more than 30 points to win a football game, raises concerns. Especially when your history supports defense as the main stay, not offense.

Then you look at programs that win, continue to win, have the exceptional recruiting year after year and there is nothing in sight that seems to change that.

For example:
Florida kicks our butts
Tennessee kicks our butts
Kentucky kicks our butts and we want to rejoice over beating the 10th Street Boys . . . . what is wrong with this picture . . . .

I could probably write 10 pages without thinking about it, will stop. There is something amiss with the program in Athens.

sadlerdawg, you and I about a month or so ago were discussing this . . . . wonder what you think now. . . . . your posts have been short lately, let it go, agree or disagree, I value your thoughts . . . .

I wonder if CMR's soft coaching style is turning off these potential DC's. Everybody knows that CMR is a Christian and doesn't get in players faces and let them have it. Martinez never did either.

Is it possible that Richt is telling these guys this is the way we handle our players and you have to do the same? All the guys he has offered have been in your face type of coaches ? They obviously care about their players but don't mind screaming an expletive if you make dumb mistakes.

I can't help but think there is something in the interview process that is turning these guys off.

If we do hire Grantham I think it needs to be announced asap even he stays with the Cowboys until their season ends.

Buc, I couldn't agree more. Defense wins Championships. Ours has been on the decline for some time now. I just dont know what its gonna take to get it back to where we were. I honestly think this came as a suprise to CMR. I really feel sorry for him. But like you said, he's let the program get away. And like you I feel like it all started when he put the CEO hat on.
