48 Wins in Four Years. Who has more?

It’s been reported a lot over the past few days that the Gators’ senior class has more wins than any senior class in SEC history. But what is the rest of the story? What team has the most wins over a four year span in all of college football history? The Gators have 48 wins in four years. If Boise State wins tonight, they will equal the 48 wins but I cannot think of any team that has had more. I assume that it has to be fairly recent since the number of games played in a season is more than it was in the past. Heck, they did not even play 48 games in 4 years just 20 years ago.
Any ideas?

Just in recent history (CMR era). We stand at 44 wins from 02 to 05.

I found several teams with wins in the mid 40's. Texas, Miami in the early 2000's, FSU in the late 90's, Alabama in the late 70's, etc. None as high as 48 though. Only the Gators and Boise State if they win tonight.
I'm sure there has to be some team with more than 48 wins in four years since the news reports are specific to stipulate \"in the SEC\" when speaking of the Gators.
Of course it could just be shotty AP reporting.

What about the Oklahoma teams from the winning streak of 52(+?) games?

Yeah, I thought of the Sooners first but they didn't play enough games to qualify.
During that 4 year win streak in the mid 50's, they only played like 41 games.
I am looking for MORE than 48 in four years.

Well since Boise State won last night, The Gators and the Broncos hold the record of the most wins in four years at 48.

Boise State has 49 wins so they hold the records.
Those tricky bast*rds had a 13 game regular season schule this year!
They must have done that on purpose so that they would hold the record
