Even the makeshift D is better than Willie

Well if you cant see the difference in the play from the regular season to the bowl game then I cant really help you at all. It was like night and day out there tonight.

All season the defense looked lost or trying to find someone to blame, they actually seemed to know what was going on and who to try and pick up when they needed it tonight, they may have given up a ton of yardage but without the timely stops on defense it would have been a lot closer. This defense actually looked like it may have a good core to build on.

Agree with you ugaa. I thought I was a pessimist but DawgnLA is the real deal. ;-). Defense looked better all around with no DC and 2 grad assistants. Can't come down on them this time considering the circumstances.

Also Monty Kiffin came in a got results from UT in his first season so I don't think it is too much to ask for a new DC to come in and get results from the get-go given the amount of talent on that side of the ball.

Granted we gave up yards but A&M was supposed to be one of the more potent offenses in the Big12.

Go Dawgs!!!!

I believe the stat they gave, Getdown11, was that A&M was the #5 offense in the COUNTRY going into the game, and the #1 offense in the Big 12...hard to believe when you realize that they went 6-6 in the regular season, not hard to understand when you look at their defense.

I liked what I saw tonight. Three graduate assistants and Rodney Garner did what Willie couldn't have done: take an UNFAMILIAR scheme and shut it down nearly every time. I predicted a 42-24 victory for UGA because I knew A&M would score...

Also, how must Coach Fab feel right now, knowing that grad assistants turned our special teams from a liability (with the exceptions of Walsh, Butler and Boykin) into a winning asset?

Yeah, dapolla, I've been saying all year (well, for years, actually) that we should try to block punts once in a while. I'm glad they finally did.

And DawginLA, Curran was suspended for the first quarter for missing or being late to a team drill or something.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

CMR said they were going to simplify the D to cut down on mistakes. Thought the D was aggressive and ready to play, which was the BIGGEST change to me. Led me to believe next year's D may have some potential with a good DC on board.

But, they did throw for somewhere around 370 yards on us. DawginLA is right that the special teams won that game. The combination of our \"cues\" (is that a word?) and their miscues accounted for 24 points.

What was the win over Tech???....Seriously, I am happy as hell that we spanked a team from Texas. However, this win came from special teams and the subsequent FEAR of our special teams. You saw the same D that you saw all season, cept they played with a chip on their shoulder. Same mundane O, except the switch on the O line that nullified A&M's rush and opened the interior...

This win had EVERYTHING to do with ended the season on a positive note and moving forward...I suggest we do the same....The echhymotic equine corpse named Willie is beginning to smell!!!

GO DAWGS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
