Even the makeshift D is better than Willie

Thanks for seeing my POV there wlayton.

Getdown I have been one of the main ones trying to see through all the negativity this year.

I'm not a pessimist, but more of a realist and just call it as I see it. This board is for opinions right?

I just honestly believe that the Special teams won that game and turned the momentum our way.

I also believe that as we change to our new DC there will be rough spots as schemes and staff change and all of our talent tries to pull it all together. Some on here make it sound like this one game and a new DC on the way is the save all. I again am just being realistic.

I was ecstatic in the way this group pulled it together and played a full 4 quarters even though the offense struggled to move the ball early. IMO that comes from not going full speed in a gamelike situation for a month.

We have a bright future folks, but there will be patches of cloudiness along the way.

I also agree that the special teams changed the game. I just can't figure out why we are acting like that is unacceptable. Ask any coach there are three phases of every game, no one more important than the other. With that aside, I will say that our D played a pretty dang good football game considering. For years, people with much do reason, have praised Monte for his bend but don't break D. That is what the Dawgs did last night. Very proud of them because the game sure started ugly for the O. To only give up 14, well 20 if you count the TD when the game was already well over, I would say that is pretty good against the nations #5 offense and Big 12's #1.

I do have a question about next year. Everyone keeps talking about Rennie and Reshad leaving. Little confused. I have not heard much talk for McShay or Kiper about either one of these guys. Also, saw on the bottom line that those 2 players weren't listed as draftable prospects.

Good point wlayton! We could have put up at least 14 more points had we held on to two sure fire interceptions- one would have certainly been a pick-six by Branden Smith. We still have work to do in reacting to tipped passes, bad passes, and fumbles. Half way through the season, I summarized the lack of turnovers as bad bounces, but as the season wore on, I saw the ball on the ground way too many times and we had no clue where it was.

Curran was supposed to run some laps or something and didn't, and CMR suspended him for the first quarter.

TA&M was putting 8 in the box all night- selling out to the run. When we started play action to hold the linebackers, the middle was open and finally started exploiting it. Once we made a few big plays over the middle, the LB's had to respect that. That's when we started having success running the ball. Then we wore them down and it was over.

Defense bent but never broke all night. Can't be more proud of how they stepped up last night. As AllDawgs5 said, we did that against a pretty good offense. Remember guys, yards gained has never been shown on the scoreboard! They are a fast paced offense, they threw the ball 59 times! Big plays by special teams and interceptions created short fields for our offense. But the gamebreakers came from our special teams. Blocked punt, blocked field goal, returned kick for TD, didn't miss a field goal, pinned them deep on punts and covered kicks well, etc. etc. Great job, guys! Bottom line, TA&M's offense was on the field alot and they still got their @$$e$ kicked. We have a great future to look forward to. Let's put this year behind us and get ready for next year! It's a great day to be a Dawg! Way to GATA! B)
