A real headscratcher...

I'd like to believe that, too, getdown, but that's my point--why make a low-ball offer to keep the schools that employ the guys we want in the dark? If Koenning isn't a \"guy we want\", why even make an offer or even talk to him? What better way to keep those schools in the dark than not even showing our hand by not dealing with coaches we aren't seriously considering hiring? I'm hoping there's a method to all of this, I'm just not seeing it right now. Maybe because it's been a few years since I've been \"in the arena\"!:woohoo: :woohoo:

Did CMR offer him the job? Seem's like he is in discussion with many DC but hasn't pulled the trigger yet. I might be missing something here I'm not sure. I still think he is holding out for Kirby and this could come back and bite us in the A$$..... Have faith boys unless its Clemson's coach and then we are screwed and looking for a new HC next year. Who knows, golfer. I read a few articles that said he did, and got \"outbid\", but I obviously can't confirm that. I know when CMR was asked about it this morning, he said he couldn't shed any new light on it. ????? I know he has to keep some things secret, but if he didn't offer him the job, I would think he could come right out and say, \"NO, we did not offer him a job\". I'm just frustrated, I keep seeing where other teams are hiring good coaches and coordinators, and all I'm seeing on our search is who is the latest guy to turn us down.

Many on this board have been in a position to hire an employee. It is not an easy decision to make. Coach Richt is going to make the right decision for the program, and it is a good sign that he is taking his time and not rushing into this hire. When you hire just to get a body and make others happy, bad things happen.

Trust CMR to do the right thing.

I'm beginning to get the impression that we don't see eye to eye on a lot of things, DFIT!
But, yes, I've been involved in hiring employees. The difference between my situation and CMR's is that in my line of work, there is usually an infinite number of qualified applicants and no time frame to losing good applicants--a revolving door, so to speak. There are only a limited number of good DC's that are available, and as more go to other schools, less are available to come here. The pool of good hires keeps getting thinner. Time is a factor. CMR keeps saying this is a bad time of year for this with bowl preparations and what not, however, two BCS bowl schools have had a coach (Cincy) and DC (UF) hired away, and Cincy has even since hired their new coach. I trust CMR wants to do the right thing, just not sure how available the resources are being made to assist him in doing the right thing.

DFIT, I can agree with a lot of what you say. Have been in the situation you mention more than once. Take note though, Coach Richt did hire WM and most if not all of us know what the outcome of that was.

Coach Richt also watched the UGA Defense go steadily downhill under WM's time on campus. I have to say that Coach Richt did not show a lot of CEO qualities with that hire and to protect WM the way he did, as a shareholder I was not impressed. That decision was friendship, not in the best interest of UGA Football.

Coach Richt is showing a lot of the same tendencies that Coach Bobby Bowden did at FSU. Mention just one . . . . BB hiring his son and that is where the CEO lost the program at FSU. FACT.

One thing is for certain . . . . next Fall in Athens will answer a lot of questions that have been on the \"Shareholders\" minds for more than a year.

I hope that Coach Richt shows vast improvement, pleases the \"Shareholders\" and gives us a great return on our \"loyalty\" to UGA.

Go Dawgs!
