Evans is doing fine IMO.. BVG was wanting a HC job and new the NFL was the way to go. Thats why he left. It wasn't about money but being a HC that didn't work out for him. So we can't blame Evans for that one. Our next DC has to be a proven DC like Smart, Bumpass, or Johnson. He just needs to the money flow at this point.


Our basketball team well that's another issue.........

1) Brian Van Gorder left because he was a damn good DC and got offered an NFL job that he knew would lead to a head coaching position, which is what he always wanted.
2) Only Kirby Smart can get Kirby Smart to Athens. If he doesn't want to come to UGA, I don't want him at UGA.
3) The basketball program has been a non-factor in SEC play since 1990. The real person at fault behind the decline of the basketball program is Michael Adams, who hired his buddy Jim Harrick (and son) over the objections of Vince Dooley and dozens of others, on the grounds that (wait for it...) he would WRECK THE BASKETBALL PROGRAM. So what did we have? Basketball players who didn't have to go to class, who had homework done for them, and who probably raped young women. And you're worried about SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament appearances?
4) By the way, it was under Evans that UGA won its first SEC Tournament since 1983. Just saying.
5) Under Evans, the Gym Dawgs have won five straight National Titles.
6) Under Evans, the Equestrian team has flourished and won two national titles, placing second twice.
7) Under Evans, Men's Tennis has won three national titles (2 ITA, 1 NCAA)
8) Women's Golf, Men's Golf and Women's Tennis have continued to flourish.
9) And oh yeah, the head of the Swimming & Diving program under Damon Evans was chosen to coach the US National Team.
10) Not to mention the 2005 SEC Championship in football, the unbelievable 2007 season, and the #1 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. Also under Damon Evans' watch.

Dapolla, you forgot to mention men's baseball. Title game appearance. Beckham, Poythress, Fields, etc. Also under Evans.

I hear ya, but most those coaches were already in place here when he got here, I just think he is on auto pilot if you will, I understand BVG wanted a HC, But i just think as AD sometimes you need to be a good salesman try to keep um here as long as possible and as we all could see CWM should have been out of here a long time ago. Charlie srtong sure stayed a long time at fla, and could have left for a Ga Southern or some small school I just think more could have been done, as well as with the Bball program, its kind of like they just threw there hands up, and let the chips fall where they may. our Baseball has been in place for a while, Im just sayin look at other schools Ads they dont wait untill diaster strikes they are pro active not reactive. We could do better here. I know its up to KS, but thats why you need ah good Ad , to sell him on coming here. the last great hire we had here was CMR,IMO. look at Tenn gets bruce pearl, Fla gets Donovan and look who we get. BVG leaves we get CWM. didnt even try far as i know to get a real DC. I just want to see real results that matter not womens gynnastics. Techs Ad as I said gets johnson, even South carolina gets S.Spur , gets Saban. and I just want to see US get a real DC we need KS but I guess Ellis johnson would do. but I just think KS will bring more passion and he is younger. jsut sayin i know we have alot of other titles in things that dont really matter, but most of those coaches had little to do with evans.IMO but I do respect what yall think on this, Im just sayin.

I will try to be a little more clear, I feel he is a good person, And I know CVD gave him the AD job, But IMO, Adams runs the show and he only approves of Evans because he seems to be a passive guy and adams can push him around and still have his say, And then we all know CMR is really the most powerful in athens besides adams, so I just think we need a stong AD that is Pro active and not just in a position of comfort because of the situation. Some one who can stand up and really call the shots , and like I say this is just what I feel when I see this, Ofcourse I am not there at UGA,. just how I see it. But I will just Be happy if we can get KS, thatsb all I have to say on it from here. GO DAWGS!!!
