UGA vs. UF Prediction (not smack talk)

Another Welcome AllDawgs5. Don't know if you have been watching this site for any length of time, but as wlayton said, you will find this to be a fair and in my opinion very knowledgeable place to talk UGA football.

You and I could probably talk for a long, long time about Monte Kiffin. Another time, but I have been in his hip pocket for many years. The things that you posted about Monte were true, but there is much, much more to the Tampa 2 than we have time for. Suffice to say, Monte Kiffin understands how to \"scheme\". Not all defensive or offensive coaches do.

Not for a minute do I think that anyone on this board would ever have wished for WM to fail when he was appointed by CWM. Statistics say a lot about a coach, and while statistics can be misleading, I would have to say that the performance of the young players under WM have not reached the abilities that many did display in high school. Experience is supposed to be the ultimate teacher, and that is definitely true in the game of football. One step late most of the time is a lack of experience.

Totally agree with you on the coverage. Give me man 80/90% of the time, and if I have the athletes, that QB is going to get the ball out of his hand a lot faster. That is the problem with zone coverages that WM is trying to run. If you can't get a \"man rush\" out of the front four, the middle of that zone is a receivers place of business. Supposedly this year was going to be a better \"front four\" and that as we all know has not materialized. They are trying, but I agree that they would be a lot more effective if we were playing man.

Again, glad that you came to this board and let us hope for good things in Jax tomorrow.

I understand. I watched a terrible defensive performance against UT this year. GT last year, unfortunately the list could go on, but I am going to stop right there. Not saying I dont believe he doesnt need to recognized for his failures. I guess my point is this, for years Charlie Strong was criticized as a DC. Even many gator fans wanted him out, but now it doesnt appear that he is all that stupid.

Say we do get rid of CWM, and bring in KS or whoever. What if they don't live up to the billing. Do we get rid of them too and start a coaching carousel? Unfortunately being in knoxville, all I heard was how Fulmer had to go. What is the result. The same 3-4 record at the same point they were at last year.

AllDawgs5 the above post brings the following thought to my mind.

Same 3-4 record, but is the intensity the same. UT has coaches now that demand excellence. Don't have to like them, but the face of UT football changed this year. It was time for Phil to go, he had his high times, but in recent years the only team that he could truly embarrass was UGA's defense.

Best thing that ever happened to Charlie Strong was one coach went to Oklahoma and the other Illinois. Charlie Strong should be a head coach and will be real soon.

AllDawgs5....I certainly agree with you about zone versus man. We are THE worst zone D in the country. Man up, blitz and make the QB throw before he wants to.....after several years of our bad zone D (as sadlerdawg pointed out), what is there to lose? Plus like Buc said, I wasn't using the term \"scheme\" as in what TYPE of D we use, I was referring to the expertise of the DC to \"scheme\" or \"gameplan\" against another's strength's etc.

The biggest problem in the \"scheme\" is that willie has no clue how to get the guys focused and they lapse on coverages all the time, some games they show up and seem like a steel wall, other times they look like wet toilet paper. Its maddening to wonder which defense will show up, at least in past we had the offense to rely on.

Anyways, if UF plays the way they have the past couple of weeks then it could be 28-20 with either team having the upper hand, now if UF feels they have something to prove it may end up being 45-10.

AllDawgs5 I to took up for CWM because I think CMB is just as bad and thought CWM was taking all the heat. I agree he can't play for them, but he is lacking. UT has the same 3-4 record, but Buc is right totally different attitude. They not only beat one of their top 3 rivals and the one they beat they man handled. They could have very easily beaten all 3 of them with the same talent that PF had. I understand your loyalty and respect your input. I can tell you know the game, but this game is not brain surgery. I don't know what percentage emotion plays in a game, but it is a lot. UGA has come out flat against BAMA, UF, UT and came out flat in the second half of GT. How in the world does this happen when all of these stadiums are full. I didn't play college ball, but it wasn't from a lack of effort. I was jacked up every time I stepped on the field. I just haven't seen the RED and BLACK jacked up in a while. Kind of like the difference between the 3-4 UT teams. Man, I would love to see them jack up Jacksonville. GO DAWGS!

I watched this same movie before. The Tampa Bay bucs had an awesome Head Coach named Tony Dungy who would not fire an inept coordinator named Skippy Shula. The team, the owners, and the fans watched 4-5 years worth of superbowl talent go to waste at the hands of Skippy. Who can forget that awesome 9-3 NFC championship game against the Rams? In the end the only way to right the ship was to fire Tony Dungy. Pwersonally, I think Richt is making the same mistakes as Dungy. If you don't demand excellence from your coaches then you can't expect it from the players.
