Sit Down...We Need to Have a Talk

Well, this week is easy for me. I watched the SC NCSt game and actually breathed a sigh of relief. SCar look troubled, and say what you will about the SEC, but OkStU looked much, much better than SC. I'm thinking that this is a year we can win by more than a field-goal.

LimeyDawg, agreeing with wlayton on your post. Might be the best post I have read on any board this year, or for a long time. That is what these forums are for, opinions . . . long or short, time wise or lengthwise. . . . cudos. Go Dawgs!

I love to complain. I do it often. I complain about Willie at least as much as most other folks on the board. My problem with complaining only comes when it goes on too long, gets repetitive, or resembles unrealistic whining with no basis in fact. I'm not calling out anybody specifically, which is why I made this its own post. I didn't want to give the appearance of criticizing anybody for venting by replying to a specific thread.

It is Wednesday. We have been whining and moaning on this board about this game since DURING THE GAME on Saturday, and very few of us have said anything new since Sunday, let alone anything worthwhile. I grant you your need to vent. Let me vent about your venting.

Georgia football has never been a warm and fuzzy bake sale, but neither do I want dawgs.com to turn into a haven for unbridled and unsubstantiated misery and pessimism. I think we can have a happy medium.

In the last half-week, this board has fired Mark Richt, Willie Martinez and Mike Bobo several times, has relieved Joe Cox of his starting duties and has kicked Richard Samuel off the team for being fragile. Also, we've fired Coach Ball once, John Fabris once, and a host of other people. I guess I just come on here midweek to get fired up about the game. I want to be fired up about what's coming up, not miserable about what just happened.

Anyway. My three cents plus change...

GO DAWGS!!!

Amen!

Buc, guess us older \"poops\" think alike. Or is it because we live amongst the gators and are having their success rubbed in our faces everyday!!!

Let's recap:

dapolla made an excellent post that needs to be read AT LEAST twice to be fully appreciated. Palmettodawg followed it up w/a very heartfelt, passionate plea for the Dawg Nation to suck it up and rally behind our boys in Red & Black. Then, Limeydawg made one of the best posts ever regarding the ups and downs of life as a Dawg fanatic.

Folks, we all SUFFER when the Dawgs lose and we all get upset and we all need to vent; ain't nothing wrong with that. Still, we must realize when we WIN it doesn't mean that our coaching staff and our players are flawless and when we LOSE it doesn't mean that our coaching staff and our players are clueless.

Look, I'll admit, I jumped on this forum at halftime of the Okie St. game and my wise friend Buc observed the same thing I did happening w/our offense. I chimed in w/my 2 cents, echoing Buc's thoughts and then went off to watch the 2nd half with high hopes of better results. Still feel the same way I did now as I did on Sat. regarding our offensive playcalling, BUT, what's done is done and like dapolla said, Mike Bobo sure as hell didn't call for any fumbles or a bunch of dropped passes. Now, the 2nd half Sat. obviously didn't turn out the way any of us wanted it to but I truly think that the players and coaches alike will LEARN a WHOLE LOT MORE from a tough, out of conference loss to a top 10 (now top 5) team on the road than by beating the brakes off of some cupcake at home (see UF, UT, Auburn, etc). Besides, as bad as I feel about the Dawgs performance on Sat., it doesn't even come close to approaching the frustration and desperation I felt after watching a totally lifeless peformance by our Dawgs against Tennessee back in 2007 or after watching the 2nd half collapses against Florida or against Georgia Tech last year. Besides, my memory tells me that we won the game immediately following each of those 3 losses I mentioned above.

We ALL better just HOPE & PRAY that our players and coaches quit worrying about last week a whole lot quicker than us fanatics and get ready and focused for SC or else were ALL in for a long, frustrating Sat. night. I trust they have moved on, now it's about time for us to move on as well.

Lastly, we'll be serving up chicken (of course--fried, grilled, burnt, whatever you like) at our tailgate off Oconee St. on Saturday afternoon. Walk into the NEW lot #9 (on the West side of Oconee St. just North of the railroad tracks) and yell \"GOOSE\" at the top of your lungs (I'll respond) if your interested in getting fed, hydrated, and all kinds of FIRED-UP before Joe Cox and the Dawgs RUN WILD on Darth Visor's Gamecocks!

FWIW--I'm going to the Ga Tech vs. Clemson game tomorrow night (it's a company function, seriously, I'm a helluva Dawg-loving engineer) and I will STILL be wearing my Red & Black and I will still be smiling and saying, \"we'll see you after Thanksgiving\" to any NERDS that want to get in my face about UGA losing 1 game out of the past 8 to the NATS and 1 game this young season to a Top 5 team.

THANK GOD FOOTBALL IS BACK--THE DAWGS MOJO WILL BE BACK ON SATURDAY!

Most teams have a little rust in the first game. This game could have gone either way and it wasn't Georgia's day.
I have alway been comfortable that UF schedules a cupcake as the first game to shake the cobwebs off. Basically one more practice day with live ammunition.
