averagedawg can't disagree with one thing that you have posted.
1. If we are to believe that the \"troops\" came together after last season, consistency should certainly be on the side of this team.
2. If Jeff Owens is healthy, this years team is one strong player better than last year.
3. Special teams play is an all around team thing. This is an area that concerns me more than others. Can't allow opposing teams to start their offensive drives on the 40 yard line. Really hoping that we can give our defense a decent foot hold around the opponents 20. As much as I ramble on about our \"D\", fairness would only have look back at the Tech game.
4. Pass rush, when I hear those two words, makes me think about wlayton. I will refer to number 2. Three folks in the middle this year healthy, the DE's will definitely be able to apply more pressure. Hoping for a little more \"grits blitz\" on occasion to keep the opposition wondering. Too bad that one of our bright hopes at DE had to show his immaturity. I truly believe that our pass rush is going to be a lot better . . . could not be much worse than last year. It is all about personnel and we need to stay healthy and out of trouble with off the field activities.
5. averagedawg, amazing to me that we came back in the Bama game and made it \"look close\". Bama did what they had to do and coasted in my opinion. Some forget that the year before we busted their bubble with a win over there. Turn about fair play, I suppose. Bama came to play and the \"Blackness\" in my opinion only spurred them on, a little more motivation.
6. Leadership, works not only in the \"real world\", works on the football field as well. Hoping that Jeff Owens is back and in top form. He will lead this defense along with a \"small\" linebacker that will knock your you know what in the dirt.
I have full confidence in Cox on the \"O\" side of the ball. Don't have to throw the ball 60 yards and hit a receiver. Oakland Raiders put out a lot of money for a QB from LSU that can throw the football the length of the field, or close.
Also brings to the table that Vick has one of the strongest arms ever, but sometimes being able to hit that receiver with a 10 or 20 yard pass consistently wins more games than the \"big arm\".
7. Less flash, agree. Play football each and every down. Wear black jerseys or whatever, game is won on the field. Nothing wrong with changing things up, but the offseason and field preparation make the difference.
8. Please, give us some luck. Even a \"little luck\" suits me.
9. With all of the talent that we have and we can't beat Tech, then it brings me back to some of the things that I have read and written, some changes need to be made. Coach Richt and staff do a terrific job recruiting, also have done a good job with wins and losses since Coach took over the program. Coach the young men UP!
10. This might make a few folks jaws get tight. Kiffin is going to change the program at UT. I know that Monte Kiffin is going to change the defensive side of the ball. Monte scares me to no end. They are willing to spend the money for coaches so take that wherever it leads.
I am one of those that think that Urban Meyer will leave the Florida program and end up coaching at Notre Dame. Can't hold that against him, he has accomplished a lot at Utah and Florida and other places. Feel that his heart and last stop will be in Indiana.
averagedawg, will be 69 on the 24th day of August, 2009. Have supported the UGA sports teams, not just football for all of my life. Glad to have some seniors on Steve's site that are old and still full of life and love UGA.
Finally, GO YOU SILVER BRITCHES!
