I Have a Confession

I Have a Confession was created by dapolla
I feel like you guys know me. I feel that you are my friends, perhaps the only close friends that I really have in this crazy mixed-up world. I can't tell my wife this. Can't tell my kids; they're too young to understand. My parents would never forgive me. No man of God would forgive me. Condemnation would be my punishment. And now that it's all over the news...well, I think this is the right forum in which to make my confession. So here goes.

I did not vote for Tim Tebow.

There. I said it. Whew! God, it feels good to get that off my chest. To have been the only person on the face of the planet not to vote for Tim Tebow as a first-team All-SEC quarterback this year...it's been a lonely, lonely place to live. I know I'm a pariah. I know that my decision-making has been clouded by my one-drink-an-evening habit and my addiction to [adult swim], and it's cost me. God, how it's cost me.

I only hope that you, my extended Dawg family, can forgive me. I hope you can let me back into your hearts, even though I know that each and every one of you MUST have voted for Tim Tebow as first team All-SEC quarterback, because there was only ONE vote against him! What kind of a man would vote against St. Tebow? WHAT KIND OF A TENDER, MERCIFUL, LOVING OMNIPOTENT GOD WOULD ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN?!?!?!?

So now it's out. I'm the one. I'm the reason the economy's in the toilet. I'm the reason for the swine flu outbreak. I'm the demon that keeps you from losing those last five pounds and getting back your summer swimsuit figure. I'm the reason that the Earth is currently spinning off its axis and on a direct collision course with the Sun. I, ladies and gentlemen, am your sacrificial lamb. For I dared to vote against Tim Tebow!!!!!!!!

O Lord Tebow, I am heartily sorry for having offended thee...

How dare you do the right thing? Do you know what kind of example you're setting here? Do you? You keep that behavior up and you're going straight to heaven. Do you hear me? DO YOU HEAR ME? Don't ever, EVER not do that again. Sheesh.

Yes how dare you support a guy that smokes, drinks, gambles, and has been nothing but a problem for his University. He is your typical poor athlete, who comes from nothing and into the limelight and does nothing good for the NCAA.

Oh wait....

Yeah he is none of those things. Whether you voted for him or not, is not an issue. But to act like he has declared himself the Chosen one is wrong. Why complain about a guy that has done nothing but positive for the NCAA and his community. The media is in love with him, did he ask for that. NO. He goes out and does his job on the field and off the field. Not that Tebow is the only player that is doing the right thing. My new favorite player is Myron Rolle. He is a hell of an athlete, but he has bigger goals in his life than a pigskin. To tear down a player like Tebow is despicable. David Greene is one of the classiest guys that I have ever met, and I could never ever say a negative thing about the guy. Herschel is another perfect example. He is all class to the bone. You would never say a negative thing about him, well as far as I am concerned TT is just as classy of a guy, and deserves kudos for the way he has handled the media attention, and the haters out there. Shame on you. Really.

Did I complain about Tebow?

No.

Did I make comments that could be regarded as derogatory towards a media that gives him WAY too much attention, and has blown the fact that he was not unanimously voted all-SEC first team quarterback by the coaches at SEC Media Days into a full-blown Watergate-esque scandal?

Yes.

Differentiate.

Also, to tear down Tim Tebow is not despicable. It's called gamesmanship. You act like I shouldn't hate Tim Tebow. I'll be honest. I hate Tim Tebow. I also hate Rex Grossman and Danny Wuerffel. I hate Steve Spurrier and I hate Urban Meyer. Do you know why? Because they beat us. Over and over and over again. And because they play for a rival team. Because they're smug and sanctimonious and they played for Florida. I have no shame at all in admitting this. I am a sports fan. I love my team.

All of that said, the purpose of this post was not to \"tear down\" Tim Tebow. It was to make fun of a media that calls him The Chosen One, that treats anyone who thinks that maybe SOME of the stats from his Heisman year were manufactured or that maybe being a raging evangelical is NOT the best thing in the world to be or that maybe throwing a temper tantrum and crying after a one-point loss is not the classiest thing in the world to do no matter what the perceived results, that treats anyone who thinks that way like the village idiot. It was to poke fun at a media-manufactured scandal that Tim Tebow himself found laughable. Do you realize that the first three questions asked of Mark Richt at SEC Media Days were about Florida and Tim Tebow? Do you realize that the second question asked OF THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA COACH was whether he voted for Tim Tebow, and if he could think of a reason why anyone would refuse to vote for Tim Tebow?

GATORStrong, you've got enough people telling the world that Tim Tebow is its Savior that what a piddling little red-and-black mutt says on an online forum really shouldn't bother you this much. Get over it.

No unfortunately your not a sports fan. your a Georgia fan. Two very different things and dont get them confused. I am a sports fan. I love the University of Florida. I bleed blue and orange.....yada...yada...yada. But I also love Vince Dooley, Mark Richt, David Greene, Herschel Walker, Bobby Bowden, Myron Rolle....the list goes on. All rival team players/coaches. When my team and theirs play, I do hope the other team gets embarrased, but off the field I have as much respect for those names listed as any Florida player/coach to wear orange and blue. Why? Because they have earned respect, they care for everyone around them more than themselves. TT does the same, he loves his team, his fans, and the U of F enough that when he felt that he let them down, he broke down. So just be clear next time, your not a sports fan. Nothing wrong with that, but just dont claim to be one.
