Buc: Bet you remember George Patton, a QB in high school and recruited as one at UGA, played defensive tackle, made All-American on one of Dooley's early teams. Did get to play QB for the Dawgs very late in bowl game because Dooley had promised he would play that position when he recruited him. Steve Greer also made All-American as an under size defensive guard, very quick and mobile.
As always, GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!
DawgDoc, you bet I remember George Patton. Circle of Honor. One of those players that we recruited from the State of Alabama. Another along that time was Bill Stanfill, turned out to be a pretty good football player. Size wise, not carrying all the weight that many do today. Good Old Days! Hope we can get the \"edge\" back with some of the younger generation.
Hey DawgDoc and Buc, remember the UF/UGA game in '66 with G. Patton and B. Stanfill? Those two ran SOS to death and Stanfill almost killed a guy on the sidelines when he tackled him. They had to drag the guy off the field, believe he was out cold. SOS still has nightmares about Patton and Stanfill. I was a kid at the game with my parents, total blast, will never forget that one!!
