A Few Questions to Search the Innermost Parts of Your Being

1. How large is the aperture for optimism for the 2009 football season for GA?

o = poor o = fair o = good o = very good o = great

2. What positive factors do you sense and detect in the 09 edition of the Dawgs at this “far-too-early-to-tell” date?

3. What negative factors do you sense and detect?

4. Is it possible that the Dawgs will fare better without MS and KM than they did with them?

5. GA’s final record for 09 will be: 8-5, 9-4, 10-3, 11-2, 12-1 ?

6. GA’s final ranking for 09 will be: top 5; 6-10; 11-15; 16-25 ?

7. Can the 09 offense exceed the production (in yards and points, not necessarily wins) of the 08 offense? If so, how?

8. Can the 09 defense exceed the production (in limitation of yards and points by the opposition) of the 08 defense?

9. Will Coach Willie Martinez redeem himself in 09 and validate the trust and confidence placed in him by CMR?

10. Will Tebow’s Terrible Lizzards once again smash Georgia’s hopes of an SEC title shot by grinding our proud bulldawgs to squeeking puppy powder? Will Meyer once again reign supreme as he holds the trophy in Atlanta as the SEC champ and give GA little more than a passing thought as a threat to the supremacy and greatness of the Gator Nation?

2. The offense will be VERY good and consistent.....MUCH better special teams
3. The D will be better but not good enough......can CMR beat UM?
4. Yes, it's very possible. Passing game= outstanding.....running good enough
with that very good OL that will make up for KM
5. 11-2
6. 6-10
7. Yes......higher passing numbers with same rushing #'s (OL better)
8. Barely.....but isn't going to be enough
9. No.......but some players will shine on D
10. Yes and Yes (excuse me, I have to go puke now)

1. O great
2. A more healthy, experienced, HUNGRY team.
3. Special Teams (especially KO) and Discipline (penalties)
4. Yes, seeing it in drills and weight room now. More of a team atmosphere, not to mention there are very adequate replacements for them.
5. 11-2 or better!
6. Top 5, baby!
7. Yes,Provided the OL remains relatively healthy, we will have more quality playmakers on the field. More options, more people defenses have to prepare for.
8. Has to, once again, provided we stay healthy. Guys have stated they were embarassed at times last year. We will be very good in the Middle, at Linebacker, and Safety. Concerns are DE, CB (early), and schemes.
9. Yes, once again, we'll be much healthier and have that much needed leadership out there. If not, later CWM!
10. No and no, remember the timeouts that SOB called at the end of the game last year! UF will come into the year overconfident. We will play with that proverbial chip on our shoulder. UF falls flat next year. They spank Kiffin, though.

As you will probably agree, searching the innermost parts of one’s being can be challenging as well as interesting. In today’s world, we tend to surface scratch. We are reluctant to confront the inward man, more I think because of the inconvenience of the endeavor than because of what we fear to discover there. Oh pleeze, just don’t bother me…this is our refrain…I shudder to think what will be said of me, at that day of discerning judgment.

1. Very good (not what I hope for, obviously)
2. Positives: I am reading of signs of greater team cohesiveness; sounds like the departure of MS, KM, AA, MM is leading to less emphasis on “stardom” and more on team chemistry, team potential, team production and team accomplishment (at least at this far-too-early-to-tell date). I read signs that individuals are working harder on the off season program. I read that upperclassmen are accepting their leadership responsibilities. Bye week for us before we confront “the Gainesville Reptiles”.
3. CWM
4. Yes it is possible our offense will be better. Far from certain; I would give us a 60-40 chance of being better. No proven superstars (although AJ approached that threshold last year), but improvement on the line (through maturity and experience and returns from injury). And it is very possible that JC will produce good numbers through more consistent play even though there will likely be fewer big plays this year. The running game will likely not improve but may approach last year’s production due to improved line play.
5. 10-3 (remember, this is a projection of what is truly lurking deep within the psyche)
6. 6-10
7. Yes (60% chance it will happen); injuries are a factor every year, but there doesn't seem to be much chance that we will again suffer 22 season ending injuries.
8. Yes if CWM transforms himself into BVG, Monte Kiffin, the guy who went to Texas
9. No. I’ve taken my position on CWM, and it is negative. I hope that I am wrong. I hope that CWM and CMR prove us all wrong with regard to Coach Martinez.
10. Searching ever deeper, I dare to detect, lurking there in the most obscure, dark crannies of the recesses of my peabrain soul, the final, bone-chilling horror! Tebow triumphs; Meyer reigns. No, I do not predict MNC for Gators, just a win over us. To quote wlayton, “Now I need to go puke…”

watson, hope you are right and I am wrong......and DawgSpeare, we are about on the same page.

(I may re-think #10 a little, forgot we had a bye week the week before UF, that's HUGE)
