Diamond Dawgs open in style

I agree that Youngstown State is not amoung the great teams in the nation. But, the dawgs handed it to them. We started 5 freshmen on opening day and overall our 6 true freshmen accounted for 23 of the 47 hits this weekend. IMO when 6 18-19 year old kids have that kind of success on opening weekend is a huge start no matter who you are playing. This team is for real and will match up well this weekend against Arizona.

Anybody see Zach Cone try to stretch his triple into an inside-the-park HR against Presbyterian last night? Watson, that is the definition of getting out there and HAVING FUN! He tripled in a run and got caught stealing home, but was only out by about half a foot (a long way if you're running from one base to another, not too long a distance when you're running from home to home). Man, that kid can FLY!

I'm a little worried by the fact that we haven't beaten a single team who's won a game this year (Presby was 0-3 coming into Tuesday's game), but not much. We've got the fundamentals, and these are warm-up games. Let's get ready for Arizona with another blowout this afternoon, Dawgs! GO YOU HAIRY DAWGS!!!

Dawgs take first game in Arizona, 11-5. Big win for us. Holder goes to 2-0. All but one starter had at least one hit. You were right, dapolla this team is solid! Let's go get another one today! Go Dawgs....and, yes wlayton, it is 5:40 am. Daughter has a soccer tournament this weekend.
