One more post and I am finished. . . . .this courtesy of ESPN, agree with them or not. Burnette was offered by OU, FLA, AU and other top notch football programs. Must add this, while I want to beat Florida as badly as anyone on this board, the school academically is top notch. Surburban Crier, has a small head and thinks that way. His day will come. Go Dawgs!
Evaluation
Burnette has the toughness it takes to excel on the offensive line. He isn't the tallest offensive lineman, but he has good size and knows how to use it. The question is whether he'll be a tackle or a guard at the next level. He's a very aggressive blocker who has a strong get-off and shows good footwork coming out of his stance. Plays with good pad level. Gets into a defender and sustains excellent leg drive. Maintains leverage by bending at his knees and keeping his back flat. Uses the short, choppy steps coaches love, and rarely overstrides. Maintains his blocks and works hard to keep defenders tied up on the play side. Gets to the second level in a hurry and can pancake a linebacker in the process. Has solid technical skills on combination blocks, bulldozing defenders off the line of scrimmage. His agility makes him a natural at pulling and crossfield blocking. Has the skills needed to be a rangy, effective offensive guard. Has very sound pass-protection skills. Sets quickly and consistently gets his hands on defenders. Recovers well when he gets off balance and will fight the rusher until the whistle blows. Shows relentlessness and determination on every play. Appears to be a great player to coach, with an extremely competitive attitude. Burnette is a very good high school tackle who could be an exceptional offensive guard in college. He has few weaknesses but needs to continually work on strengthening his core without losing any quickness.
